Ever since ive been on pc i seem to get horrible fps if im not the only pc or npc on screen. in lower jeuno in front of ah i get about 1-2 fps, sky i get about 4-6 regular, even with nothing on screen. about 8-11 fps everyone else >.>

i have shadows off, weather off, bump mapping is off and eviromental animation is off

the only time i seem to get more then 15 fps is when im in first person looking at a wall.

my pc specs
P4 3.00Ghz
512MB RAM
nVidia Geforce FX 5500
also this pc doesnt have any AGP slot at all so the video card is PCI

what should i do to get FPS up? or do i need to get a new pc with an AGP slot?

Even with a PCI FX5200, you should get a way better frame rate. There has to be something with your system.

First problem that comes to my mind is Drivers. You should install the latest drivers that Final Fantasy XI officially supports. This generally means, no Beta drivers. Just the latest that the game supports. You can learn this by emailing Square, or from their website. I do know that FX cards are experiencing problems with the game, but its generally solved by installing correct drivers.

And how about other games? Do you also suffer from low frame rate with other games? Have you tried running a 3d Mark test and compared your results with others?

i contacted playonline as their website does not reccomend any drivers for PCI, they just told have no drivers to reccomend for PCI cards and i should get a new one(but i cant)

i also installed battlefield2 and it runs with no decrease of fps so i guess its just ffxi and i should upgrade to a new pc

ty for responding
