I've been having this problem since March. This application or spyware or whatever it is appears in the taskbar. I usually see it when I start up windows and all the regular apps are loading like AIM and Yahoo Messenger. Nothing pops up. It just white with a blue line on top with no title and just disappears quickly. It reappears randomly after the pc is on for a while. But what annoys me most about it is that it will happen when I have something open and jump on top. I can't play Final Fantasy XI anymore because of it since I lose full screen mode everytime.

I've ran different anti-spy programs like eZtrust pest control, yahoo anti-spy, Ad-aware SE Personal , and spybot - search and destroy. I also have Norton Personal Firewall, and etrust EZ anti-virus. When I've ran eztrust pestcontrol, it always finds 2 things in the registry that reinstall themselves. Kazza, and Grokster. I don't know of thats the cause of the problem. None of this happened untill I installed my printer its a HP PSC 2355 all-in-one.

If anyone has any advice or suggestion I would really appreciate your help. I miss playing the game and I wanna get back into FFXI again.

Until the source of this issue is found, I recommend using Windower to prevent Full Screen Lost (-1).

Though, perhaps you can A) close any suspicious apps in task manager (ctrl+alt+dlt->Processes, and remember, Explorer.exe is a good idea to keep up), B) go start->run->msconfig->startup tab->uncheck everything you don't recognize.

You could try HijackThis.

My husband got some nasty stuff on his PC a while back and this was the only thing that would get rid of it.

Try running a scanner like MS Antispyware or Counterspy in conjunction with HiJackThis and you should be able to get rid of it.

If your all-in-1 printer uses a USB connection, try unplugging that wire. Though, it shouldn't make a difference, this is a potential cause. Since your problems started at the time you installed your printer, you may want to check into that. Try disabling the fax feature if you can.

I've tried disabling things I noticed that were suspicious in msconfig.exe. At first I thought it would do the trick, but I still get that annoying thing that pops in the taskbar. It just doesn't happen anymore when Windows XP first loads. But what I have noticed is that it appears when I lose my internet connection and it reconnects to the internet. I'm on Road Runner. My printer is an all-in-one. Except it doesn't have a fax machine built in. I usually leave my printer off most of the time. I've tried Hijack this and it makes me a little nervous what I found. I'm gonna try MS Anti-Spyware next.

These are the programs that I deselected that don't start up anymore:

GWMDMMSG
GWMDMpi
blank

These are in the folder SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/Currentversion/Run

Thanks for helping me out. I'll let you all know what happens.
