Surfing the Web while playing FFXIFollow

#1 Oct 20 2005 at 4:53 PM Rating: Decent
I hope this isn't a commonly asked question, I didn't see it after checking a couple of pages. Is there anyway to both play the PC verison of FFXI and surf the web at the same time so I can keep synth guides and etc. available for reference without having to log out? For some reason the game requires that it be in fullscreen mode and if I drop out of that mode it shuts down and I have to log in all over again. Any help would be appreciated.

There is a windower program out there somewhere. Look through the FFXI main forum to see if you can scrounge up a link.

ffxi.archbell.com is the most prevalent one. You can also use FFAssist, but it takes some knowledge and debugging to get it to work.

Is there any way that you guys could explain what a windower does?

It allows you to alt-tab ut of FFXI without losing full screen mode and crashing the game. Simple.

Not to be the **** on a parade, but there is some question as to the legality of using such a program.

Not that it can be detected (at least to my knowledge) but I wouldn't go through the game shouting that you are using a windower Smiley: grin

Yes, SE has a firm stance of 3rd party software.

Don't tell people you have it. a lot of "tattle tales" are out there >.<

Windower is nice though, just make sure to update it everytime FFXI has an update. SE has recieved 1000's of emails and countless phone calls about this... They still won't 'fix' this 'bug'.
