Seeking MP3 recording software suggestionsFollow

#1 Oct 30 2005 at 3:20 PM Rating: Decent
I have finally got the time to try to convert all my old LPs and tapes into MP3 format, and I am looking for suggestions for good software to use. I have a Pentium 4 3.0GHz w/HT processor, 1Gig RAM, 2 80Gig SATA drives, and an Audigy2 Plat sound card. I also have Cakewalk's Pyro 2003, but I still seem to be getting a lot of hiss from the recordings. Anyone done this before and/or have suggestions on better software?

There's heaps of software that will record to your machine, the process is recording a 44khz wave file first (high quality) and then converting them over to MP3 using another tool.

I use Ulead's Audio Editor (part of Ulead Media Studio Pro 7.0) to record my audio, but these came up with a google...

If you're still getting the hiss with different software chances are you're getting EMI from some of the components in your PC and you may need to look at moving your soundcard away from the CPU into the lowest slot. You really shouldn't get hissing from a card of that quality.
