Alla EQ SLOWFollow

#1 Nov 24 2005 at 9:36 AM Rating: Decent
Does anyone else find the EQ Allakhazam to be extremely slow with loading pages and doing searches lately? I pay for Premium and expect much better performance than this. I've emailed support with no response...

Will this be improved? Anyone else having such slowness?

I am finding it slower then the second coming, not just today. But everytime I try to look something up over the last week.....

It appears Premium has gotten us nothing :(

Premium DOES NOT give you faster service. What premium gives you is forum search, item lookup, avatars, personal journal, etc. Go look through the Premium FAQ again. Nowhere does it say you get a faster service.

Same problem here...

Stalls at: everquest.allakhzam.com usually about 5 to 10 seconds
Then stalls/hangs at: servedby.advertising.com

I just did a timing test. Did a search on "grandmaster's"

everquest.allakhazam.com - 8 seconds
servedby.advertising.com - 1m 44sec
Presented search results
Clicked on Grandmaster's Legging Symbol of the Brood
Brought up item in 2 seconds. Good!
Clicked the Back button
everquest.allakhazam.com - 1 second
Connecting to servedby.advertising.com - 1m 45sec
Back to results list
Clicked on Grandmaster's Legging Symbol of Infestation
Brought up item in 1 second. Good!
Clicked teh Back button
everquest.allakhazam.com - 1 second
Connecting to servedby.advertising.com - 1m 40sec
Back to results list

For this test I fired up my clock side by side of a Mozilla Firefox window. I noted the time when I clicked and watched for changes.

I am running 3.0Mps DSL. I have this same problem from other computers running IE. One is my work computer where I have 3-T1's for Internet access. This is not an isolated problem.

Obviously there is a problem with the servedby.advertising.com that Allakhazam needs to put pressure on them to fix their problem or Allakhazam take out references from their pages to advertising.com until they fix their problem. It may not be an Allakhazam problem but it sure is making Alla look bad!

Hopefully someone at Allakhazam monitors this area and follows up on this problem.

BTW - add about 5 to 10 seconds to sites that reference oz.valueclick.com. Not terribly bad but this should be down around the 3 to 5 second range.

This is a known problem and is allegedly due to overloaded and inadequate servers. The folks from Alla have stated that new servers are 'on order', but there is no indication of when this problem will be fixed. I for one am not renewing my premium subscription until it is.

More importantly:

We just got 4 new servers in last week (giving us a total now of 19). Hopefully, they should be online sometime this week. We are hoping that will fix the speed issues we have been experiencing.
