Okay well more or less my question is: would upgrading my graphics card make FFXI run better in areas with alot of scenery and detail (When I have my clipping plane setting maxed out my performance slows down alot)?
My computer is a hewlett-Packard with with a 2.6 Ghz intel pentium 4 processer, and i'm currently using a GeForce FX 5200. Would upgrading to a new more powerful graphics card help out? And if so could anybody reccomend one in the 200~300 dollar range, thanks.
Also I have 512MB of "DDR SDR" ram. I'm not incredibly computer savvy, so sorry if I posted anything not worth noting.

I would say upgrade your video card and RAM.

Yeah Kastigir is right, another 512MB of RAM and a decent AGP Video card will improve things immensely. You need to get SDRAM and not DDR RAM for your machine, and be careful sometimes HP machines can be picky about RAM so you may want to order something specifially for that model of HP.
For the graphics card i'd go for a Radeon 9800 Pro or an X700, they have to be AGP cards though and not PCI-Express.

I was probably going to get the 512MB Ram upgrade from crucial.com since they "Scanned" my comp and brought up a list of RAM that is compatible with my computer. (Thank you. This really helps alot.)

If you're not planning on doing any video capture then you could probably look at the non All-In-Wonder card.
