I was wondering if someone could help me out here.

I just built my first computer with all my older computer parts, and after I put it together I turned it on, everything seems great, but when windows loads, I'm only getting a blank screen that's turquoise in color. No start bar, no icons, nothing. When I go Ctrl Alt Delete, all that is running is "Explorer" ? I'm running Windows 98 btw, I have tried to insert my Windows ME CD but I can't get that to run either....sigh.

Any suggestions for this? >< Thanks so much.

The very first thing to try is to see if you can get it to start properly in safe mode. Then work up from there.

What you're looking at may be as simple as a resolution or driver issue or a complex enough problem to force a reinstall of Windows. Start diagnosing.

It's F8.

If you haven't done a clean install of windows chances are your windows install is having some problems with some of the hardware in the new machine. Try a clean install if you haven't done so already.
