NVIDIA 6600 GeForce CrashingFollow

Hello,

I've posted this before but ended up giving up on the problem. I'm back though because crashes are becoming more costly. I'm pretty sure it's the card that's causing the problems but I'm no wiz so I'm looking for a little help. It seems as though the crashes come when there are bright or detailed graphics on the screen ie changing jobs, ifrit's cauldron's fire, upon entering bcnm's (ouch), standing on tele points, etc. I can stand in jeuno for hours with no problems. It's the action that my comp can't take.

I guess I need help diagnosing the problem first but I'm almost positive it's the graphics card (subject). Comp temp is fine, RAM is fine 512, drivers are updated - mobo and graphics card, power supply is sufficient (450). It's gotta be the card. I've read numerous NVIDIA forums where people are having the same problem but nothing is ever solved ( or at least they don't come back to share how they fixed it ).

So, any suggestions or can anyone say that they feel my pain at least? I am hoping there's some setting that can be changed or download that will fix this. Anyone have one of these cards and have problems or none at all?

Thanks in advance! If you fix my problem I'll...give you a stack of earth crystals in appreciation ~ if you happen to be on my server. ;)

EDIT: forgot some specifications...

Problem frequency: Depends. Often if I'm in the "high-action" areas listed above. Almost guaranteed if there.

Hard Drive Space: Not sure but around 50 gigs free.

CPU speed: I'll have to check when I get home and re-edit but I know it meets the FFXI requirements and beyond.

Has this been an ongoing problem, or did it start with the newest drivers? Have you tried rolling back to the previous driver version?

Any major changes to your system pre/post problem? It could be any number of things. You said that temp wasn't an issue, but that's CPU what about GPU temp?

Thanks for your replies. Turns out it was temp (I think). The fan on the card had dust all on and around it making it impossible to do any cooling. Been working fine now. Have another problem though that I posted on a different subject.
