FFXI vs New LaptopFollow

#1 Dec 25 2005 at 4:15 PM Rating: Decent
Well, I was rather excited to get my new laptop this morning, but my heart sank after installing FFXI (the only game I intend to install on there). Apparently, SE only supports ATI and Nvidia graphics cards. I have an Intel card on my rather nice new gateway laptop.

Basically, is there a way around this? I can't imagine SE being this shortsighted.

The Intel card mentioned is an integrated chipset. Incapable of running FFXI.

Wonderful. So SE had the wonderful insight to only allow two brands of video cards to work with their product? Sorry, I'm just a bit cheesed that I got this laptop and gave my old PC to my brother. It can run FFXI, albeit poorly. I guess I have to use the family pc then.

... Maybe I can get WoW on this thing. -.-;

Thank you anyways, and Happy Holidays.

No, SE wrote their game to require hardware TnL, which Intel doesn't support. ***** to Intel, not SE.

You can emulate TnL to my understanding, but FFXI specifcally checks to make sure its hardware based.

Oh. And it wont run WoW either. Or any game I'd ever want to. I feel really crappy, all that managed to happen was I lost my perfectly fine PC in exchange for this expensive paperweight.
