Wireless Router Problems.Follow

I have a wireless network on going in my mom's apartment already, I want to hook a 3rd PC to this network. I'm using a Netgear 54 Mbps wireless router. I have bought the same antenna for the 3rd PC. My problem is that it connects once in a while (very rarely) and when it does connect it gets a very low to low signal. Every now and then I get a Very Good signal and check to see if the computer will go online, but it will not go on line at all. I've tried everything BUT move the unworking PC or the router itself. I rather avoid having to move those items because, to be honest my mom won't let me.

On the newest antenna we have purchased it has no range requirements and the guy at the store said it'll work from anywhere in the apartment. The computer is 2 rooms away. I'm unsure as to weather or not the walls are Steel enforced or not...which I know can/may cause a problem.

Just IM me if possible as to the solution or possible solutions, or to even walk me through this.

My YIM is tamigotchi1482
My AIM is chillinthefucout

Please let me know who you are in the intial IM as so I don't just outright and rudly ask who the hell you are.

Well, i'm not going to be IM'ing you anytime soon. Just fingers crossed you come back here.

It does sound like a coverage problem. Is the PC that you're trying to get connected further away from the router than the others?

How many walls is it going through?

Is the signal passing straight through the walls or is it running paralell to the walls in some spots?

You may want to try a different channel for the wireless router if it's possible.

Beyond that the best solution is unfortunately to move either the PC or the router to another position. Even a few feet can make a big difference if you can eliminate any obstacles in the way. Also make sure the router isn't near (within 3 feet) of any other electronic devices.

Good luck!
