DAoC - CrashingFollow

#1 Jan 20 2006 at 12:18 AM Rating: Decent
I've been having this problem for a while now, I've tried the entire tech support FAQ section on the game site, and I tried E-mailing them, and got no response.

Everytime I load up the game it runs for a random ammount of time. I've had it crash to the desktop after only 15 seconds, and sometimes it lasts up to a half hour before crashing. I've closed out all programs, and all essential processes, and run the game, and it still does it. My mouse cursor dissapears, and it sort of freezes for about half a second, and then blacks, and I see my desktop. It worked just fine about a week ago. It had randomly crashed, so I reloaded it, and it started crashing right away when I logged in. Then I rebooted, thinking it was a ram issue. After rebooting, my computer continuously began to reboot. I reformatted, thinking that was the issue. After that, it still did it, so I turned off auto-reboot on serious errors and now it no longer reboots, however, DAoC does this.

The system at that time was 512mb of ram, now it's 768mb of ram. Other than that nothing has changed aside from it being reformatted.

Processor type/speed: AMD Sempron 2.8ghz

Total Hard drive space/Free hard drive space: 14.2gb used of 72.5gb total.

Amount of Ram: 768mb (1 512mb PC3200 DIMM and 1 256mb PC3200 DIMM)

Video card type: Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 Ultra

Operating system: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600)

Computer model number (if it has one): Everex Explora GS28

frequency of problem: Every time the game runs after what seems to be a random period of time.

The computer came with the 256 PC3200 ram DIMM, and all the other hardware except the Graphics card. I added the 512 PC3200 DIMM and Graphics card myself later. The ram I added I just bought 2 days ago, and the graphics card I bought new off of Ebay, and didn't use until about a month ago. Nothing in the computer, added or otherwise, is over 2 months old.
