I just installed the game and there's 14000+ files to download and I keep getting disconnected while updating with the POL-0250 error
I've udated the Firmware on my router and have the required tcp/udp ports available.
My router is a Lynksys and the MTU setting is set to disabled as the default. Enabling it but it makes no difference at all.
I ran a tracert to pc00w2u.pol.com and the hops do fine until 170ms through po0-0.cr2.nrt1.asianetcom.net, squareco.asianetcom.net, and 61.195.56.121 then they time out at 61.195.56.94 with 18 hops total.
What more do I need to do?
Edit: Also, I have an ethernet connection and get T3 speeds most everywhere else.

I read your post and just wanted to say I also recently started having trouble with my route and the POL-0250 error. I just wanted to ask you what model # exactly is your router??
You see, I ask because my router is the Linksys BEFSR81 version 2.0 and my friend and I had an extremely hard time finding firmware updates for particular batch of the sr81 series (it seems it's a bit of the blacksheep hehe.) However after spending about an hour, we were able to finally pinpoint the latest firmware update. If you do have this particular model and version the latest firmwae update is 2.45.10 eleased on Jun 03, 2004.

I'm surprised Lynksys didn't have your model. Makes no sense that they don't have an update for it. Did you try emailing them?
The have the Lynksys BEFSX41 version 2.0. The firmware update I got from Lynksys is dated Apr 29, 2006. It didn't do squat though. :/

Found out the problem is something with my router. I bypassed it and patched fine.
