It doesn't work on my system as well, however I recall something about it. I will search around a bit and see if I can find it.

*NOTICE THIS MAY BE 100% BS*

Im told that you don't run into problems with Software error's, like what you seeing, if you do a clean install of Vista. That, sadly, means hitting the old Format C: command and sitting through the 1-2 hour install process. Personally, it's just a game, and I can wait a few weeks for SE to finish with testing the patch.

I just got a pc with vista but I did get it working, well updating ffxi now. I transfered my POL from my old hard drive over to my new hard drive after I did the entire install. You just need to overwrite them all, POL works and ffxi is installing now.

I just did a clean install of vista and cannot run POL or anything related, Not sure how else to get this to run. I have no way of copying files from old Hard drive as I had to reformat drive.

I have read the other post here bout this problem, They say to copy your old POL files to a CD, can they be anybodys files, say from a friends computer? Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.

It should work with any POL files unless it writes an account file. in which case you may need to log in on that other computer as yourself first.

As an update to this, I recently installed Vista Ultimate, got the error that POL can't run under the current operating system.

At this point, I copied the entire POL folder from my girlfriend's XP machine to the Vista machine, and overwrote all files. Got a bunch of prompts from the UCA during the overwrite.

Went to launch POL, and still getting the same error.

I disabled UCA, copied the files again (this time to a separate folder so I have a source for XP files) then overwrote the POL folder again. No dice still.

Thinking that having the UCA active during install may be the culprit, so I will uninstall and reinstall with the UCA disabled, and try these steps again. I'll post back if I can get anything actually working.

Well personally, I just got a friend to give me his XP disks for now till Vista is compatible. Only reason I installed Vista was because I just installed new motherboard and I had no XP CD's to reinstall. Just reinstalled XP for the time being till all gets straightened out.
