Error Code FFXI-3001Follow

I play on the PS2 and am having trouble logging in with any of my characters. I didn't do anything different with my ps 2 so I don't know what could be wrong. Here is error I am getting: "Error Code FFXI-3001 No response from the Final Fantasy XI Server. Connection Timed Out. Press ok to shut down."
This message comes after I have selected my character. The screen goes black for about 2 minutes before I get the message. This happens with all my characters in different areas. This has been happening for three days now. Any help would be great.
