Fraps AudioFollow

#1 Jun 11 2007 at 9:59 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, I have C-Media Rear Panel audio, I'm trying to use fraps to record the game audio and video. Because fraps is too stupid to just let you directly pick what to record, it only allows to choose Detect best sound input and use windows sound input. Problem is, in both cases that's the mic. I can go into audio properties and turn the mic off so it's either CD player or Line In, but it has to be one of those 3 because not all 3 can be turned off at once for some reason. I can't get it to just record the sound that's coming out of my PC. I never had this problem before. I've tried both options, unplugging mic, rebooting etc etc. Never works ><

This is driving me nuts and wasting massive amounts of time so any help would be hot. I found lots of info of similar problems online but none exactly like mine.

You should be able to go into windows and set default input device to "C-media wave device". I have FRAPS set to detect best, and it appears to be working fine.

Whereabouts in windows would I set that? I'll check myself tomorrow but right now I'm tired and couldn't find it XD.
(thanks either way for the info!)

In windows XP open Control Panel > sound speech and audio devices >sound devices.

In the audio tab you should be able to select "C-wave media device" for output and recording. Make sure "Record sound" is checked in Fraps as well
