October update 24th/25th 2007 (Connection Trouble)Follow

Since the October 24th/25th update I have had to suffer severe connection problems.
I had initially thout the problem was my fault, so I ran virus checkers, registry scans and adware sweeps, none of which revealed any major issues. I checked my firewall on my computer, Router and ISP, all the settings seemed to be ok. To ensure the problem wasn't at my end I turned all the firewalls (above) off, placed my computer inthe DMZ (router settings) and unrestricted everything else on the ISP side.

Logging back in, the faults were still there... The S and R numbers in the top right of the screen were constantly dropping to zero. I thought it mioght just be temporary while a large number of people were logging in and out, but after 30 minutes (and a cup of tea later) the problems were still there.

The latency / connection problem is so bad that even in windurst (not the most lag plagued city in th game) attempting to access my equipment panel took over 6 minutes, attempting to craft a melon juice to pass the time too a little over 1 minute to start the crafting process (visual) and then stopped me from doing anything for another 1 min after (even restricted me from moving)


Sent a couple of /shout out to see if anyone else suffered.... one reply, but their problem only lasted for 10 mins...


Contacted GM to see if there was something they could do.... sugested that I contact 'Technical Support'

'Technical Support' suggested that I open ports TCP : 25,80,110,443 and UPD ports 50000- up to 65453 (ish) I closed the windown that I was using to chat without noting down the last number.... silly me...
It was also said that since the update the ports used 'may' have changed.... so if you happen to have a firewall that automatically or was manually set with permitted port numbers and no longer 'learns' automatically, you may have to manually set them.




Having opened the ports on the router, disabled the firewall (on the computer) and attempted to log back in.... I noticed "Emergency Maintenance All Worlds" scrolling across the top...
I still have the connection problems...

If anyone out there has any suggestions on how to correct this (assuming it's not the update thats screwed things up) I'm very happy to take any advice given

*Edit* The connection problems also caused me 3 deaths (as I figured that they were temp problems)
Was unable to call carby against an EP mob, which over the space of 2 mins R/L pummeled me into the ground, face down.... attempted again, same result.... Third time I learnt from my mistakes.... I ran to the zone... Zoned which took several minutes and found myself dead in the next zone..... and then turned the power off in disgust (Slight temper tantrum)
