A while back I made this post about FFXI locking up randomly. Back when that post was made, up until I made a new computer a few weeks ago, it would lock up every few hours, but would sometimes lock up as soon as I started it.
When it locks up, the game just freezes. My internet won't open any new web pages. However, I'm able to open up other programs when it happens, unlike before where I couldn't open anything else. If I open up another window/screen that blocks FFXI, it'll just be a freezeframe of the other window (as in, once I cover up the FFXI window, I can't see it again. It's just a square).
These are my new specs (I know, kinda crappy, but I'm saving up for better ones)
Motherboard - EVGA nVidia nForce 630i
Processor - Intel Core 2 Quad q6600
Video Card - Running the onboard graphics, since it doesn't seem to fit any other card.
Memory - Kingston DDR2 220pin 1 x 2G
PSU - Antec earthwatts 500w
Case - Antec 900
Wireless Card - Linksys wireless-N
Heatsink - ASUS V70
Hard drive - Western Digital 80g
Everything is new except for the Hard Drive and Internet (I'm using a 2wire USB adapter instead of the wireless card right now, since I'm having troubles getting the driver to install). It worked on this computer before I reformatted the harddrive last week. On my old computer, it wouldn't even read the wireless card. I reformatted my harddrive (which fixed the problem I had Here).
The game ran fine for about a week, then froze twice last night. I lowered the graphics of the game (made them the lowest visuals possible), and it's been fine since. Then it froze during campaign a few minutes ago.
I didn't have the Core Temp up when it froze, but I've never seen a core go over 61C while playing (they usually stay 53-59C). I'm also going to work on getting my wireless card to work again. Could it be the internet, or is the onboard graphics not able to handle the game?
