You know he IS 13, right? If you want him to write up retorts that are of literary merit you might want to explain to him how to write one in such a way that isn't demeaning or that reflects poorly upon your character.

When I was thirteen I could form complete sentences. Being thirteen is a good excuse for not driving or needing your cousin to buy your smokes, it is not a valid excuse for everything.

I fully expected you to pipe up on that fact, though, Niobia, as you have a tendency for rushing to the kid's aid anytime someone writes anything about him being a poor poster. Honestly, he could use to pick his battles a little more carefully, don't you think? Why bother posting this tonight if he didn't want someone from the asylum to come along and make it clear what the difference between the two forums is? I think he likes it when you rescue him, quit enabling.

Honestly, I have no problem with the OOT even if I do find the asylum more to my liking, I just took offense at the way this classic thread was being treated. She is not there for you to mock and throw away, she's a keeper, show her some respect.

I know he says he's thirteen. But -- so? If people are being too mean to his fragile maybe-13 spirit, he's welcome to visit someplace safe.

Or else maybe his mom needs to monitor his net habits better. Or maybe he's full of crap about being 13. Really, I don't give a wet slap.

#59REDACTED, Posted: Apr 15 2006 at 11:58 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) So you are going to Karma Camp him not because of his post quality but because you are hardup for a 15 year old kid?

But why ?
It's just a color Maverick.
It doesn't affect your real life whatsoever ,it's just an internet board .
At least it shouldn't affect your real life ,that is Smiley: frown

mel - i was bein silly =)

Oh no, his post quality is why I'm hard on him.

Maybe if the kid grew up and starting posting a decent quality post here and there I would let up, but for now I feel the life being sucked out of me every time he posts.

You know this is the OOT - if he strays into the asylum...then
that is ALL fair game however this is the OOT where a good post is any post (something a little more then a warm breath and a heartbeat)

Not to go off topic with a hijack but has anyone heard about them opening up the Canadian Oil fields due to it being cheaper then the current prices of oil?

I'll have to agree with Joph on this, necroposting is universally stupid on all forums, not just this one.

I used to feel like that when I saw your posts, two years ago.

At least they're tolerable now.

(I dunno that Linus is ever gonna hit even "excremental", though.)

Linus has improved since he first arrived into the OOT (remember he used to post that odd beatnik rambling poetry stuff?) He has alot of potential now if only one of you Grammer ****'s would take him under your wing and teach him how & what makes a good post you would have less to complain about

unless you really enjoy complaining.

After spending a large ammount of time reading this entire thread, i know i've learned a lesson. I feel scolded, even though i've been taking shelter from the brunt of the storm.

That lesson? I can't quite put my finger on it, but something about Easter and some religious zombie, and it reportedly being a good thing.

Think i'll go back to the mass of gooey insipid posts on the OOT, and continue to dangle my toes in the asylum water.

Um...

Thanks?

yes, thanks is the word i'm looking for.

I have at several attempts to teach the boy how to post, and reguardless of my efforts I have failed. There is only so many times before you can beat a dog for shi[Cornsilk][/Cornsilk]tting on the carpet before you just have to find a new dog.

Dear Barkingturtle and any other grammar/punctuation ****.

I try, its just punctuation isnt my thing. The commas and the ; and whatever other type of punctuation. They are hard to remember...
And as for the excessive use of periods, 'tis a habit.
However if some punctuation is screwed up somewhere the post is still good (assuming it wasnt a ****** post).
I edit grammatical errors and spelling, punctuation is just hard to find in my opinion.

He's emblematic of the same idiotic drivel that you'd like to pass as standard. Honestly, like most of your little crew, his posts would have more intellectual merit if they were blank (though they often are).

I'm not saying that every single one has to be a gem, but christ...
