HAHA! I bet that you thought this was going to be another misplaced game-related post, but alas, it is not! Got ya!

Anyways, I saw a documentary on the History channel yesterday about the kids on the MIT blackjack team. Pretty much, they got together a bunch of money and mathematically found the ways to beat the house in blackjack. Then, they trained a team of college kids to play using different techniques, one of which includes the "high/low counting" method.

But technical stuff aside, these kids made MILLIONS of dollars doing this, and I want some of that sweet stuff. Anyone willing to donate to the start-up fund, or experienced players willing to begin the rigorous training, I'm looking for you.

Let the games begin!

One of hubby's friends has been trying to get us to read Bringing Down the House for quite a while. He suspects that one of their friends that went to MIT was part of this team, lol.

I know with "expert" Blackjack play, you can get your expected return up to something like 99.5%, better than any other casino game. But the only way to push it over 100% is counting cards.

Counting is fairly easy. There's a math system where certain cards have certain values, positive and negative, and you just keep a running total. The current total determines what you need to do. The hard part is learning how to lose so you don't look like you're counting.

If you want more info on it, look around. I'm sure it's floating on the internet.

2-6 are a +1
7-9 are neutral
10-K are -1

When the count gets high enough, say a +5 to a +10, that means that there are more high cards in the deck, and therefore the dealer will bust more often.

That's only scratching the surface of all the strategy, though.
