Cell phones are more trouble than they are worth, I mean when you try calling someone on thiers, no answer, yet when you want to avoid them most you hear the ringing of the newest model nokia thats about 2 days old and already out dated.

And they are bothersome, so many wrecks happening because some dumb bytch was talking on the cell phone while doing 85 on the freeway driving an SUV.

Then your trying to enjoy a movie and you hear the bonaza theme ringing behind you and some fat *** answer and speak 10 times as long as he needs to.

It sucks too, as bad as they are its like they are required nowdays. I mean kids in like 8th grade have them now.

Im still stuck with my first generation nokia with a cracked lense after I ran the ***** over with my truck hoping to break it...

We put off getting a cell phone for the longest time, and we use them as we believe they should be meant to be used. For emergencies and just before we're about to head home to ask if something is needed from the store.

We finally got one because my husbands ward was in a car accident in Kansas City, and had to go to the hospital. We couldn't leave the house because the hospital was going to be calling us for information, but we wanted to go to Kansas City to see how Patrick was doing!

After that, we got a cell phone each.

Mine is always on silent (I'm in school, and no one but my hub will call me anyway), and as I'm getting in my car to head home, I flip it open and see if he called me. If he had, I call him back to see what he wants. If he hadn't, I call him to see if we need anything from the store.

I don't answer my landline, why would I get an extra phone to carry in my pocket?

Only thing more annoying are those Nextel radios. *Brrtrrtrrbtt!* Joe? You there?? *Brrtrrtrrbtt!* Yeah, what's up? *Beee----BOOOOOOP* *Beee----BOOOOOOP* *Brrtrrtrrbtt!* Did you hear me?

Some states have outlawed using hand-held phones while driving.

Which doesn't matter too much, because when I'm deep in discussion, even if it's just to a passenger in the car, I'm not paying as good attention to the road as I should be. But, I do have both hands on the wheel, at least.

I had a $336 bill once and I had free nights & weekends and free incoming calls regardless of time of day. I would call people and have them call me back if at all possible.

Heh... however, the bill was that much from Long distance charges from keeping up with people back home.

i hear your pain, but they are both good and bad. just like a gun. its the stupid rude ppl that make them good or bad for the most part.

those you discribe are the stupid rude ppl who deserve a swift kick in the butt. they do come in handy at times. you are driving down the road and a belt breaks? do you cary a spare, do you have the tools to change it, do you know how to change it? if the answere to any of those is a no, then a short phone call can save the day. not all states have call boxes every mi along the road.

same goes for your late to a meeting/date/appointment due to traffic. pick up the phone make a very short call, "im stuck in traffic, ill get there as soon as i can." hang up the phukking phone. no need to drive down the road and be on the phone.

i love what england has done. if you are driving and on a cell phone/car phone at the same time and its not hands free then you get a ticket. i love that idea.

I like my cell phone. It's spiffy and does stuff and can be used to do interesting things to bluetooth pda's

I like to say I hate my cell phone but when I forget it at home, I actually miss not having it. It's the thing I hate to love =/

Just yesterday one of my co-workers was in an accident a block away from work. A woman was on her cell phone and ran a red light. He was fine, but she was taken away in an ambulance.

Personally, I think they come in very handy. I've already had to call 911 from mine. I try not to use it while driving though. It distracts me too much from eating, smoking & changing radio stations.

It's not so bad if they own a headset unit like I do. I haven't actually used mine yet, but I have it. :-P

Honestly though, the increased accidents caused by people using cell phones while driving is probably far outweighed by the much faster emergency response we get by having cell phones all over the place. It's a wash in that respect.

They're also just amazingly convenient. Being able to contact people even whey they aren't at home is huge. Knowing that if you call someone's cell number, you'll get that person, not their home, or their work, or some other place you think he might be at, is pretty darn useful as well.

How many times back in the day did you play "phone tag" with someone. You'd call them at home, and get their machine. Then they'd call you, and get yours. It could take days to get ahold of someone, just due to bad timing. With a cell phone, you can still play tag, but the time is much shorter (and isn't because the person isn't there, but because they have their phone off).

Personally, I think cell phones are one of the most significant personal technological improvements we've had since the washing machine.

A while back a Houston rock station did a count of how many "crazy bytches talking on a cell phone while driving a SUV" could be found on the road. I think they ended up with about 100 total, probaly some two or three times.
