Because I don't have a blog.

I have joined the ranks of American gun owners. Check it:

(I hope these don't violate any rules/laws):

Retrospective editing - 7/13/11 (As this was brought to my attention again recently)
These are extremely stupid pictures of a person behaving in an extremely stupid manner. All of them, but the last two especially demonstrate exactly how NOT to behave with a gun.

Meh. That was for "style". I do realize that only a jackass would actually fire a pistol that way.

Also, for self-defense/personal protection.

Also to get one while I still can, but that discussion belongs in Asylum.

Doesn't owning a gun increase the likelihood that you'll actually get shot?

Why yes, it does!

Packing heat may backfire. People who carry guns are far likelier to get shot – and killed – than those who are unarmed, a study of shooting victims in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has found.

Overall, Branas's study found that people who carried guns were 4.5 times as likely to be shot and 4.2 times as likely to get killed compared with unarmed citizens. When the team looked at shootings in which victims had a chance to defend themselves, their odds of getting shot were even higher.

So basically, getting a gun is like shooting yourself in the foot as far as safety goes.
