They are covered in my computing course, and therefore we covered some of the research into cyborg technology that has been done in the area.
There is this prominent figure, a lecturer at Reading University, his name is Kevin Warwick. He's just such a weird mad scientist who modified his own body to have a sonar sense and wants to fight wars with organic robots. And he relates it all in such a bored sounding way, you'd think he's actually not human himself. I think he might have suffered some brain damage.
