Why is my hovercraft full of eels? Why doesn't the post count under my avatar match the one on the Posts page?
Kao: Why aren't you friends with
Jet Pack Man yet?
Edited, Nov 16th 2010 7:26am by Shaowstrike Because hovercraft seats are typically made of synthetic salmon skin, which eels consider a delicasy, the post count on your posts page lied to you because it shows the same to me for both, and because he owes me cheese.

How much deeper would oceans be if sponges didn't live there?
Trick question, if you removed the biosmass of the sponge from all the oceans they would actually be slightly shallower, which would inadvertantly solve that whole global warming flooding everything issue...

Do your dev folks actually have a test site where they test stuff before rolling it out? Is it always used?
Yes, each dev has one or more test sites, consisting of server frontend and database backend. Is it always used? probably, somethimes things slip through anyways though.

Do you always get along with your coworkers? I assume admins can get in disputes from time to time... how do you handle them? Have you ever had to have Alla / Head Honcho guy settle them for you?
There are disputes from time to time, not all that many that I was involved with recently. Magi was the biggest dispute in allakhazam history in terms of outright dislike for another admin. Sometimes there are personality clashes. It really depends on who is involved, over what, and when as to how they are resolved. I usually try to work mine out without involving anyone higher up. that doesn't always work though. I like to think i get along pretty well with most of our staff.
Considering that was leaked two days ago, I dind't really think that was really earth shattering news. Definite overhype.

If you had to choose one Lego brick, which one would you choose and why?
Toss up between a pair of the black shield generator pieces shown here:

or the "hyperdrive engine" piece that is the hard to see nose of the rocket shown here: http://guide.lugnet.com/set/?q=6959_1&v=z
My main lego spaceship was a long swing wing creation with retractable ski landing gear, twin side mounted turrets and detatchable missiles. I still have it at my parents house somewhere I think. I should put it back together and put it on display. it was pretty awsome.

Can I have a pony?
yes. However due to shipping weight restrictions, we'll be sending it to you via ground shipping in small, 3 ounce pieces, one per week, for the next 80 years. Some assembly required...

If I was an admin, what's the most likely reason I'd lose my job?
For a wider question, what's the most common reason for staff to drop off over there? Eventual lack of interest? Fired for performance? Their jobs are phased out for lack of demand? Conflicts with "real" (full time) jobs?
If I were to guess, the oppertunity for you to do something unfortunate to a certain asylum poster which might begin with a g would be the most likely cause. Or maybe you would get a medal? I dunno.
On the wider view, the biggest reason historically has been burnout. Especially the content manager positions which demand alot of constant data entry. People get other jobs, decide they don't want two jobs anymore, stop showing up in IRC or doing anything, etc. Other times, real life intrudes. Or they just feel like it isn't the job for them. Very few are removed for lack of demand if they are actually doing their job. I have seen people transferred from "dead" games to other games, but not jsut let go if the game is truly the issue, not their input.

I dunno, Maia? I don't think she's ever been mad at anyone. Ever.

How much time are you required to spend moderating the forums? Do you guys have shifts? Also, I'd like to see my admin notes. No, I don't care if they're lame or if it makes me lame for asking.
I'm the only official forum admin. I usually log into IRC after I get home from my other job, then log off about 4 or so hours later, and also put in time on the weekends. No, there are no shifts, though some of our foriegn admins do tend to be active more at ungodly hours of the morning for some strange reason.
Also, I see that darqflame already gave you your notes, but I just added:
Tue Nov 16 22:55:34 2010 [Kaolian]: Doug? DOUG? What kind of lame gamer handle is Doug??? (yeah, he asked for admin notes too... Did I mention the Lame part? )
Enjoy!

My admin notes were boring last time, and I suspect they haven't changed much since then, so I'm not actually going to ask for them. I will however recommend that something interesting is added (DF, something along the lines of "this guy is super hot" works - but only if it's coming from you) so that next time yall do this and I ask it will provide a brief moment of entertainment.
Hah! I can't believe she wrote that! you're gonna be soooo pissed when you eventually see those notes someday! hahahahahahah!!!!!

A bit of both. I like a good Michael Cluziel (sp?) dark chocolate, but Milka german milk chocolate is my all time favorite!
Who has the most interesting admin notes?
What is the funniest admin note you've attached to someone?
Mine, because they say something about wombats!
Funniest was probably some of the ones appended to Godraiden accounts, or particularily lame spammers.
Will anyone answer my other questions?
No.
What are the various pieces of the site's back end implemented in?
Perl and MySQL mainly.
Are there any female admins besides DF and Pikko? If so, who are they?
In addition to Darqflame and Pikko, there are Maia, the DAOC admin, Calthine, the EQ2 admin, looker, the typo editor admin (yeah she hates me...), Noxy, the artsy type admin, Kaasha who is new and I think is the rifts admin, pikko2, who is in IRC right now and is an imposter, also likely a cylon, and maybe a few others with ambiguous names? There are a bunch of admins these days.
Why aren't my questions garnering an answer? Wait, I am not sure I want to know.

So now I want to know your most embarrassing Alla moment (that you can share). Put it in the form of a question...

Most embarrasing moment? What is, finding out about the whole Magi ***** e-mailing incident, that had been going on for months and realizing that no one had the slightest clue it was going on, because the users wouldn't talk to us, largely because of magi?
