More than just the existence of these lists, I hate when they put only 1-5 of them on a single page at a time.

Seemed like a pretty typical list. I was surprised that they didn't think Dune had a place, because they seemed like the kind of people who would. I wasn't surprised to not see Akira on that list.

I agree all the top 5 deserve to be there. I think Star Wars IV: A New Hope, should be at number 11 instead of 20. It definitely shouldn't be behind most of the films it's behind, including The Fly, and Starship Troopers.

How the hell did Starship Troopers even make it on the list? If it weren't for the tits there wouldn't be any reason to watch it at all.

How the hell is Jedi at number five? That's easily the worst of the original trilogy.

That list is balls.

Also, I'm pretty confident that 2001 is only in the #2 slot because someone felt it "should" be, not because it deserved it.

Disagree. I felt it was better than Empire Strikes Back. A New Hope is still the best of the 3 though.

Oh hell no. Empire has the best ending.

I am inclined to agree with you there. But the movie as a whole I did not enjoy as much as the other two. I still liked it, just not as much.

Empire Strikes Back is undoubtedly the best Star Wars movie. Out of the three Star Wars movies that actually exist.

Also, I've still never seen Blade Runner. I need to get around to that one of these days.

It deserved to be #1 & I'm kinda of surprise 2010 wasn't on the list at all. 2010 is certainly much more straight up sci-fi than 2001, plus it has John Lithgow & the dude from Jaws in it!

Really I think that list was someone randomly remembering movies they seen and pulling numbers out of a hat on the order they belong in, They could of tossed in the movies "Ice Pirates" and "Space balls" and it would make just as much sense as the current order. Actually those two movies are better options than some of the crap in that list.

This. I thought Return of the Jedi wasn't in the list at all? I thought it was Empire at no. 5?

Yes you do need to see Blade Runner. It is superb and moving, and even though it's ancient now I bet it's held up marvellously. Not everyone would put in no. 1, But it definitely deserves to be in the top 10 of any SF list, or even just any general movie list.

Hey, where's The Abyss????!??!!!!!!!?!!!! It should be top 50, at least.

We must be thinking of different 2001's.

It deserves a spot but not in the top ten. It's labored by a plodding pace and a fascination with being progressively artistic rather than interesting. You could shave the entire thing down to forty-five minutes and I doubt most people would notice.

Every single Star Wars game with a Battle of Hoth stage (read every Star Wars game since Dark Forces 2) agrees with you.

Yeah, all I remember about 2001 was a lot of new age music and shots of the spaceship. And Hal. I also thought 2010 was a better movie because at least there was some action.

Is 12 Monkeys anywhere in that list? It's definitely in my top some-odd list of sci-fis.

I'd probably also include Brazil.
