Why is EVERYONE obsessed with pi? Is it because it's this "nerdy" concept that everyone gets to some extent, and if you demonstrate some kind of knowledge about it like how 22/7 is a really bad approximation or can recite it past 3.14, suddenly you're some kind of super nerd? I don't get it. Big goddamn deal.

0 is the loneliest number, it can't even divide itself to have someone to talk to.

Token nerd/geeks; it's popular. It's something I've noticed in high school and have been trying to properly categorize since then.

Pi is like the "Call of Duty"/"Madden" of science. If you play video games, especially WoW, Final Fantasy, Mario, etc, then you're a nerd/geek, unless it's Call of Duty or Madden, because they're cool.

Pi allows people who don't know anything about math or science something that they can relate to. As mentioned, I'm sure most people can't repeat the constant of "e" and it's much easier to remember than Pi.

Best explanation ever.
Except I'd actually group WoW in with Call of Duty and Madden. Smiley: sly

I'm going to lodging a formal complaint with DF. Kaolian, that is clearly over the line and beyond offensive.

Pretty much. You tell a random person you barely know that you play WoW, and they're all liek ************* nerd". Then you say "Well, at least I don't play FFXI." and they respond "True, true".

Or something like that.

It's even funnier if you think about it while looking at lolgaxe's avatar.
