This is now officially The Plan.

I haven't been very fair to my husband. He has always said that he'll never be happy about getting a dog, but he won't stand in my way. I told him I would take as much of the burden of caring for the dog as I could, but I would need a little help. But I really wanted to do this, and he said ok.

So I applied for the puppy in the OP or one of her sisters, and they are going to set up a meeting. Smiley: yippee

I are happy.

I'm going to have to agree with Sandi here. When I eventually get a dog, I am going to go for a Dachshund. Adorable little dog. Although it will have to be the smooth variety, not a fan of the longhair let alone the wirehair one.

I might also want to point out a Cocker Spaniel. My parents have a black one and the dang thing is playful when you want to play and relaxed when you want to relax. As Lolgaxe put it, it's cute enough to make you puke rainbows. :P

Cute? Looks more like he's about to bite your face off for separating him from his mother.

Grats on the puppy :D

I kinda want a pet, if I ever live by myself.

Should have gotten a Lab :P

Akira is cute though, just keep em groomed. Nothing looks worse than a dirty, matted shih tzu.

I'd love a Lab, but we don't have the fenced in yard that one would need.

Yeah, I figure we'll be taking her to Yip Yap or some other groomer about once a month, and brushing her quite a bit.

Should have named the dog Tetsuo, would have made this pic more relevant.

Yes, the cat is supposed to be the chick.

Cute dog. Hate the name though. When I come visit for family gatherings, I'm calling it "Little ****".

My husband loves Akira Kurosawa films, and he was watching Throne of Blood as I was trying to find a name. I was reading a list of "puppy names" and Akira popped up. He said, "I love it."

And a star was born.

Is a coerced compliment as good as one given casually? I say yes.

BELKIRA, I AM STILL SQUEEING FIVE MINS LATER AND BT SQUEED A GOOD MINUTE HIMSELF.

Is that a pure shih tzu or a mix? He looks purebred and I'm going to come to your house to steal him. Trust me, they are the best dogs ever and your husband will definitely learn to love him. Here is one of my favorite shih tzu quotes to describe their temperament:

Quote:
“... a dash of lion, several teaspoons of rabbit, a couple of ounces of domestic cat, one part court jester, a dash of ballerina, a pinch of old man, a bit of beggar, a tablespoon of monkey, one part baby seal, (and) a dash of teddy bear.”
