Dodgers back to brooklyn?Follow

I'm not sure of the entire story, but somehow MLB took over the LA dodgers. That makes me wonder, should they be sent back to brooklyn and one of the lousy teams (expos) be sent over to LA to give them a team?

Don't need a third baseball team here.

The organization isn't the issue. Its the owner. With a good owner, the dodgers are very profitable in that market. They're sticking where they are.

I believe the owner of the Dodgers is going through a huge divorce so MLB took over the team while that process is happening.

The financial woes go beyond the divorce, they've just help bring them to light. Very good chance he loses the franchise regardless of the divorce outcomes.

New York needs another sports team like a hole in the head.

I'm not even sure how this would make any sense.

Also, assuming you mean the Nationals when you say Expos, they just built them a new stadium in 2008. I don't think they're going to up and move them again in such a short time. Not to mention that they are still a pretty profitable team where they are.

The Expos were actually a half decent team. They had one of the best farm systems in baseball. They just kept losing all their talent to free agency or trades to avoid free agency.

Trades to dump salary more than anything. Hard to stay afloat financially when you can't break 10k attendance on weekends.

Was the absolute best team to go watch though. 3 rows back from the dugout, $12.

I lived a little far away to make that feasible, but I don't doubt it. Baseball is a much better "in-person" sport than say NFL football. As far as Montreal is concerned, when you run through some of the names that came through their farm system, it's pretty scary.

Yeah, I once caught an Expos-Rockies game a few years before they moved. I'm guessing there were somewhere between one and two thousand people in attendance. My friend and I had only been to Fenway prior to that and were kind of shocked.

Yea, as good as their farm system was, the biggest part of that was constantly losing great players to trades and getting draft picks/prospects back. Montreal was like a AAA team where you get to play against major leaguers, while waiting to join the real team.
