Just saw this posted today on facebook by one of my favourite Dutch bands, it seems like Lady Gaga ripped off one of their songs.

LADY GAGA STEALS FROM HEIDEROOSJES

In the past few days we got several e-mails from fans telling us popdiva Lady Gaga stole some of our tunes. We thought it was a joke but after checking it turns out she and her composers ripped the intro of our song “WE ALL SHARE THE SAME SUN” for the new Lady Gaga song “Electric Chapel”.

Not only the guitarriff but also the Mid Eastern sound is similar to the song we made in 2004!

Check and decide for yourself:

We all share the same sun – Heideroosjes:

Electric Chapel - Lady Gaga:

On our facebookpage we’ve put a mix of both songs: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Heideroosjes/40215458333

Link to the band's website with video

It's not even altered much, just some added effects. Lowers my opinion of Lady Gaga even further.

She didn't steal, she sampled so its okay.

I think that's the ******** excuse rap uses.

I like how on the Dutch version of their site they say they should just invite her as a special guest for their next tour because she obviously likes their music.

I thought it was commom between pop people to rip off from others.

I mean, all they do is some silly stupid dance in front of cameras while wearing silly stupid clothes and having their voice altered because they can't actually sing live.

Isn't this what "pop" music is all about?

Just like how rap/hip hop/crap has stolen stuff from Modest Mouse and Dead or Alive.

Whatever the crap this song is, my roommate loved it (rap version). When I pointed out it was just a re-worded "Float On," he didn't believe it at all. He had to listen to "Float On" (which he had heard plenty of times previously) before he grudgingly admitted they were similar. By that time I pretty much figured out he had absolutely no ear for music.

Maybe they'd have something if it wasn't such a standard, almost boring riff.

Yeah, but I could crush any manhood with a well timed clench, and don't you forget it!

This seems relevant to this thread.

Agreed. That was really neat.

As for the Lady Gaga steal. Meh. They sound different. Maybe she wants to do the Vanilla Ice thing?
