Join the US Army and get your Hulk on...

Actually, pretty interesting technology companies are putting together here. I'd think something similar would be great in First Responder careers and those with physical handicaps.

Read all about it

Good thing we already have a counter in place in case the exo-suit ever falls into enemy hands.

About time we enter an age of super science. I'm going to look for a radioactive genetically altered spider.

I've been following this technology since earlier this year maybe it was since last year for 20 years.

When you can't remember the actual date, just go with the meme.

We've been hearing about this type of equipment for at least a decade. Nice to see some progress, but...

200lbs over 20 kilometers, then what?

I'm guessing this kind of thing will be more useful for setting up an outpost or loading/unloading cargo on base, and isn't really all that useful in an extended field work scenario? There can't be that many ways to charge a battery in the field. I've got zero military experience, so I guess I'm kinda fishing for input here.

Things like this tend to be limited at first, then tech progress and engineering improvements extend the usefulness and general applicability. Thanks for the OP, it's a very interesting development, especially if you are a fan of mecha games/anime, and Appleseed by Masamune Shirow. Smiley: grin

I've seen a civilian alternative developed in Japan, which is more designed towards aiding the physically handicapped and frail to live more mobile lives. The Japanese version leans towards articulated support struts, rather than encompassing armouring.

Possibly solar. Also wouldn't doubt carrying multiple batteries. I can see it used for "short" distance marches, or patrols through towns, while carrying heavier armor and/or weapons. I can't really imagine it being used for more than 13ish miles at a time, though. It'll probably be used like you described at first, until the technology becomes more practical.

And yes, I am a little disturbed my first thought of 20km was that it was a short march.

And then the technology goes from military to civilian, and some fat **** uses it to load palettes of McDonalds chicken nuggets into his car.

What about an exoskeleton with Wi-fi ?

You live within 12 miles of me, right ?
