Some people might remember several years back I had this ridiculous idea that I was going to start an internet radio show for the hell of it and play whatever the hell I wanted. For obvious reasons, that never happened, no links in old thread work, obviously but now it is.

On Sunday, at 7PM EST, I will be hosting SonikRadio on The Katalyst Network. I'll be providing a link by tomorrow, when my part of the site should be up. I'll be playing all sorts of music. And, if you have Facebook, and like the Katalyst Network page, and answer 1 question on the Facebook page, you will be eligible for an opportunity to win a $50 gift card to Future Shop, or the Electronics store in your area.

The show airs at 7PM EST tonight here.

Check it out if you'd like. Any questions?

Edit: now with link for contest
Edit 2: now with accurate contest details
Edit 3: Link to show

I didn't listen to any of the music yet, because I'm already listing to a live stream, but I 'liked' it. Good luck.

I've pretty much grown very wary of shoutcast type net radio ever since the huge virus infections years back.
Do you have any guarentees that your radio station will be clean of major stuff?

Define "all sorts of music."

Thank you. Doesn't go up til Sunday evening(EST) anyway, but feel free to tune in then.

Both myself, and the owner of The Katalyst Network do PC repair and are well trained on dealing with viruses and he like, as well as keeping them away, and we are doing everything in our power to ensure that our streams will be virus-free.

Alternative/alt-rock, electronic, post-rock, a little bit of metal, a bit of trip-hop, and indie pop/rock. I even threw some samples in there for you, but what I'll be playing isn't limited to just those bands, I have lots of material to pick from at this point after a month of correspondence. By sometime tomorrow there will be links on the site to the websites of all the bands/artists whose music I'll be playing.

Thank you. If this goes well, I may just get to make this a regular thing. This is just the pilot.

Good luck to those who have "liked" it and those who choose to "like" it later on Facebook on the contest. I will be announcing the winner on-air.

That's not all sorts of music. That's not even some sorts of music.

Toss in some ska and punk and I'd probably tune in.

I would love to, but those bands/artists/record labels I contacted did not get back to me this time around, I am hoping to do another show, with more punk, ska, etc. music later on. I'm not always going to play the same kinds of music if this becomes a regular gig, gotta mix it up sometimes or else it can get repetitive and boring like most traditional radio stations.

See above. What kind of music is your thing? A big part of this for me is feedback from listeners and potential listeners, I want to play music I want to hear, but I want to play music others want to hear too, and my taste in music is eclectic enough that unless people want me to start playing mainstream rap or bubblegum pop or some ****, I'll probably be able to please most people at some point without putting myself through listening to/playing things I hate.

I have been made aware that I was mistaken about the nature of the contest, see above post for full details.

Yes it does.

Legally, we can't archive the show to be streamed later or put it up for download or anything. It'd be nice if we could one day, though.

I was going to go to bed, but I guess I'll order a pizza or something. It will be nice to listen to something other than Sirius 206.

Updates as to what's playing at: Twitter and Facebook. Technical difficulties prevent me from actually hosting the show this time around.

Again, stream link is here.

I just avoided an alcoholic pass out with pizza and pepsi for you to find out your mic didn't work?

Been listening for about a half hour now. While some of it is better than other of it, overall, not bad.

Not the mic. Lets just say we'll be using a different program to broadcast next time around.
