Maybe it was Nobby?

Definitely wasn't Nobby. He liked his beef 'n' ale pie too much.
Paul? I'll get it right one of these guesses!

I have been taking soy hotdogs and burgers to work and they taste alright. They are even better when you don't have to use a microwave to eat them. Best of luck to you.

Jeez, how did I miss this. Gratz Fish. I too am an ovo/lacto vegetarian. I will advise you that Amy's brand frozen foods are quite yummy if you can find them. Also Morningstar Farms has great veggie-burgers. If you like tacos or chili, you can get their "crumbles" to use in place of ground beef. I'm eating some great meatless chili as I write this.

Try eating a salad with every meal, and you will thus eat less of the fattier stuffs (just don't douse it too much with dressing.)

Also avoid the trap I seem to have fallen into at times. Junk food might not have meat in it, but being a junkatarian is just as bad as too much meat.

I was not a vegetarian in college, but see the aforementioned frozen meals if your college cafeteria has a microwave.

Here is some info about getting proper nutrition in a vegetarian diet:

http://vegetarian.about.com/od/healthnutrition/f/Vegnutrition.htm

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/vegetarian-diet/HQ01596

I have been vegetarian for some 6 or 7 years now. Any questions, I will be glad to help.

Decided to eat halal mostly because it's the only way I can get high quality meat for less than supermarket prices around here. Too lazy to go to the shop, I don't like dairy. I end up eating vegan 4 days a week, meat twice a month and random vegetarian food the rest of the time.

I was pescetarian when I lived in the US. They fed me so much shrimp, I still haven't fully overcome my aversion of that stuff. At one point they forced me to eat bacon because not doing so would've offended them. Right.

I don't get this. It's not ok for you to offend them, but it's ok for them to offend you and force you to eat something you didn't want to?

If you show weakness in front of carnivores, they sometimes eat you. No one ever got et by a brontosaurus. (yeah, yeah, I know, Apatasaurus can kiss my ***)

I'm mostly vegetarian right now. I eat chicken about twice a week.

I'm trying to trim down to ~180 lb, I'm currently at 210 lb. Pretty sure I can sustain myself on this diet, now I just need to start working out, lol.

Smiley: um You know that if you start working out you're going to have to increase your protein intake somehow, right?

To give him the benefit of the doubt, he could be eating quinoa, or otherwise taking the time and effort to make sure his food intake works out to a high enough volume of complete proteins through eating complimentary foods.

Agreed, but I'm going out on a limb and assuming he's not doing that right now and therefore, can't maintain himself on his current diet.

He's probably better off than I am, that's for sure. My protein intake is certainly too low. Though I am sure to at least be getting complete proteins.

Yeah, probably not. Just thought I'd mention it in case he actually was, though.

Well, that and the boredom.

Oh, I wasn't offended, just slightly grossed out. I wasn't eating meat because the only kind of meat I really liked wasn't available there.

I essentially paid a lot of money for them to show me their culture and bacon is American culture, isn't it?
