OH and one of my favorites was the guy who booked one of our nonrefundable trips (about 3 months ago) and wanted to cancel it because his wife was about to give birth....

Seems like he should have invested in a calendar or something.

Then I had the idiot who thought by pressing "buy" repeatedly, several times, that it would make his internet process his order faster. Being that the banks were closed, we couldn't call in to have the charges removed immediately. -.-
I really hate dealing with people around bank holidays.

"Yes sir, it's my fault your bank is closed and I can't do a damn thing about these 'charges'* to your debit card. Yes, I should really be fired for my incompetence. I'll be sure to recommend it to my boss as soon as she gets back from the holiday. No sir, I'm not being sarcastic. I really will tell her you said so. She could probably use the laugh."

*Authorizations often show up as pending charges to peoples' online accounts. Then those people freak out at you.

If your banking system wasn't so crappy, maybe you'd have far less issues with refunding/reversing charges to people.

She doesn't work at a bank. I don't think that allowing POS clients to reverse and/or refund other charges a customer made prior to walking in their door but which prevent their purchase from being approved is a sign of a good banking system. I can just see it: "Ah sir. You're over your limit, so we can't approve the sale. No problem though. We can just refund the charges you made to those other businesses so now there's enough room for you to buy stuff from us!". Yeah, what could possibly go wrong with that?

It's irrelevant. The sole measure of a banking system's worth is how close to 2% it keeps inflation.

Oh gorram it. The fun of holiday season work continues.

Just had our first cold spell/storm of the season. It has driven a mouse into the building. I've lost the ******, but I'm pretty sure it's somewhere in the damn lobby. I'd ask where the **** that giant iguana that wandered in here during the summer is when I need it, but apparently they're generally herbivores.

Thank god I'm gonna be on vacation the next 5 days.

Vacationers are the WORST in a service industry, imo. Of course, since they have constituted a large portion of the people I've served, I might be biased.

But they just all seem to develop this extreme sense of entitlement. They become so focused on themselves that it's like they have forgotten how to interact with human beings.

My "four star" hotel in Germany consisted of a bunk and a fan as AC. It as close to the train and it had a great breakfast everyday, so I didn't complain. Really, as long as I have Internet and a decent bathroom, I'm straight.
