Hey all,
Was just curious if anyone in the Seattle area has ever heard of this place, the AFK Tavern: http://www.afktavern.com/
It's actually in Everett, about 25 miles north of Seattle. I live nearby, so my wife and I checked it out today. We were very pleased! The place has several gaming computers, video game consoles, a Rock Band stage, etc... even a vending machine with Magic cards in the back! They also have a slew of board games and video games that they let customers use for free. Awesome food and bar menu, and they tell you up front to stay and game as long as you'd like.
We were both surprised by how many people were there (mostly adults, just a couple kids) at 4 p.m. on a Saturday. Apparently the place gets packed on weekend nights.
I've heard of Internet cafes, but I've never been to another place quite like this, which is a bar/restaurant that's completely dedicated to gaming (tabletop, paper, console, PCs). The closest thing I've ever seen is Gameworks, which is more of a classic-style video arcade where you can order food.
Anyone have places like this in your neck of the woods?
