Apparently makes people ballistic X-D
No really. I don't know if any of you have read the news but my University has been spammed in the interwebz for an adjunct accusing the University of retaliation.

You see, back in the Fall (2011), our University used city funds (tax money) to build a tower on land that they currently don't own but will be deeded to them in about 10 years. On the tower, they put a cross. This professor complained to the media (I was originally under the impression that she went through the schools administration first but was wrong. And this would become a habit of hers.)

Throughout the year, she would send emails requesting that a group of us would speak to the media; I refused each time, and each time her response would be something belittling, insinuating that I was a "bad" person. She would also send out emails, with forms letters, demanding that we send these out to file complaints on her behalf (DoJ, DoE, OCR) I didn't. --The complaints were investigated and dismissed.

Flash Forward to May, when she and 20 other adjuncts were let go. Our University began their accreditation process this semester, and a requirement through SACS was to have more tenured and less adjuncts. Previously we have been under the accreditation of Kingsville.
http://www.tamusa.tamus.edu/accreditation.html

Since April, she had been bugging a couple of us to speak to a reporter for the San Antonio tabloid, S.A. Current. According to her, the day the article was published, she was terminated (as if, the Administrators are sitting around all day looking for her interviews; they were in Israel visiting partner Universities) I refused again, and was told

If you do not talk to Greg Harmon, you are killing the only opportunity I have to shed light on what happened.

Sent from my iPad

***** Light on what? Because, she had forwarded out everything she considered evidence, she forwarded out nasty emails she sent to coworkers that she thought were against her, nasty emails she sent students that she thought were against her (saying that the school should have told her, so she could avoid them) but to the media, she plays the victim.

The school removed the crosses. Her issue, her charges of "threats" were because after she loudly proclaimed that she was "offended" by the crosses, some people took offense to her. She got emails saying that they wished the University would fire her, one person mailed a Christmas card. (she's distributing this to anyone from her sky drive, anyone who emails her and acts like they support her cause)

The thing is, She was a Criminology adjunct, which requires 18 graduate credits of Crim or CJ in addition to a Masters degree (if they don't have a Crim or CJ Masters to begin with.)
She has her resume online, and although she has Masters degrees in Phys Ed and Sociology, she does not have any C.J. or Crim credits. (At this point, I don't even know if her degrees are real.)

Well, I vented on my facebook (which is locked, and not even under my regular email) but my mistake was that we shared one mutual friend, who took a screen shot of me whining about how I felt bamboozled. (I do, I trusted her, and felt bad for her but she was a complete and total liar.) The next thing I know, I have friends emailing me, calling, freaking out because she has this posted on her facebook site with my full name, my location, my college and my program (which tells you what campus I'm on. Graduate is on one campus, Undergrad is another.)

What has me bewildered, isn't her response (because she is really off kilter.) it's people in the media are taking her word, and aren't checking their sources. She isn't hiding her resume, it's public on LinkedIn. The Southern Accreditation Associations standards are public viewing, as are the Universities requirements to be a tenured Criminology professor and to be an adjunct (use Psychology for a comparison - you need 18 credits in the subject matter, ie. CJ or Crim to teach it.)

Oh, and her fake internet lawyers trump me. The lawyer(s) she hired are a PhD Middle Ages historian, a Playwriter from New Jersey and a photographer (from AAUP, FIRE and AU) The first group, wrote a letter demanding that the University obey their associations laws - its like he really is trying to pass himself off as a lawyer. The second does the same thing and even includes some kind of legal defense title. The third, he just wants attention >.<

This just struck me as, I don't know....
She's spamming it everywhere.
"I am available for interviews only if the following individuals are also included in the interview:
Dr. Kreiser, AAUP, http://www.aaup.org/AAUP/contactus.htm
Mr. Bonilla, FIRE, http://thefire.org/people/4092.html
Mr. Lane, AUSA, http://www.au.org/chapters/san-antonio

I will provide documentation supporting my statements and/or URLs for verification."

***and no one is reading or cross checking the validity of the documents.

That's pretty crazy. Also, you should probably remove that mutual friend from your Facebook. Or hit him/her in the face with a book.

You're on the fringes of a feeding frenzy, at least a feeding frenzy that she is trying to to keep going.

I would have removed and blocked the mutual friend for passing along my comments to your former instructor. Review your privacy settings and lock them down. Since Facebook's interface changes on what seems a daily basis, it's prudent to regularly review the privacy settings.

Set up a Google alert for your name so you can see if anything is posted about you. It won't catch everything, but you'll find out if anything was posted about you in a public forum.

She's an adjunct professor that's trying to make a name for herself and become the professor that fires up her students "to do the right thing." All she's doing is killing her chances for tenure anywhere.

Wait, what's going on? Are we flaming the Sissy Bradford chick or the mutual friend on Facebook? What's the topic?

I understood about 30% of the original post. It's all over the place. First about crosses on a tower built by tax funds on a piece of land not owned by the guys who built the tower, then Sissy who is let go after/before complaining about said crosses, then Sissy who is crazy stalker type, then mutual friend who is a total rat for no apparent reason, then some more Sissy and something about fake internet lawyers.

This is like the time I watched Memento while drunk. It was also the first time I watched Memento.

Mostly Sissy. (the mutual friend is blocked, unless you are my friend you won't find my facebook. I'm probably going to delete my linkedin as well.) I know it's all over the place, even Sissy's stories change. All I know is that I found that her educational background is not consistent with the requirements for her to be teaching Criminology. The university is seeking it's own accreditation, so they have to be very strict about following the requirements.
Technically we aren't accredited, we are using A&M Kingsvilles accreditation.

So, when we apply for financial aid, we go through two offices for approval, two offices for problems and questions.

She doesn't have a PhD, so she isn't even qualified for tenured positions. She doesn't mention that part to the media heh. She has a BA in Humanities, masters in Phys Ed and Masters in Sociology.

She had actually been trying to get a staff position, to get benefits and because they make more money. Of the local state colleges however, we pay our adjuncts the most (3k per class.) However most adjuncts have regular jobs, except her.

Yeah I've never understood the appeal or need for one to get an upper level degree in Phys. Ed. The principal of my high school from 10th-12th grade had a Ph.D. in PE and demanded that people call him Dr. Strandberg. I can understand wanting respect for having a Ph.D., but why the hell get a Ph.D. in PE? What's the point?

Did he ever say what his dissertation was for his Ph.D. It is surprising that he is not part of some research team or the like.

At my school in Germany, we had a great number of teachers with PhDs, including one brilliant Greek teacher who turned down tenure to write a textbook and teach us. He was awesome and actually did know his stuff.

We also had a chemistry teacher whose PhD thesis was on organometallic chemistry (which is actually what I'm doing research in right now, hah!) and he had no clue about any other area of chemistry. It was sad.

He's America's most famous criminologist. He's also an award winning aerobatic pilot. John is such a common name in America because so many people name their children after him. Be careful, he'll steal your girlfriend.

She can quantify the tightness of striped socks.

For colleges seeking accreditation in the States, they need a certain amount of PhD's in each program. She was booted out to make room for PhDs (and more qualified adjuncts)

I'd kick out the PE teachers first too. Then the Drama students.

Seriously, you're going to pay that much money for four years when you'd get more training in the craft by doing community theatre for a year? Pfft.

I would disagree with you on the drama students. There are actually things that are taught (at least in the theater department at my school) that you aren't going to learn on your own (or would have a difficult time anyways). There's costume history, how to build sets, do lights and sound, how to sew for costumes, stage make up, several different styles of acting, etc. Plus when you take classes, you're going to get at least some one on one attention from the instructor/prof. As opposed to doing community theater, where the director is only going to give you one on one time to work with you if you're a lead. Otherwise, you're on your own.

And the PE teachers these days learn a lot more than how to do calisthenics. A lot of them are learning some pretty serious science, under the umbrella of the kinesiology school, including anatomy, organic chemistry, and even some intro psychology.
