This rare one from the Bebop soundtrack really does it for me. You don't hear a lot of brass arrangements of this style in media (where violin and piano are the mainstays).
Very sad song, but epic in its own way.
Oh wow, that one actually gave me goosebumps. That was really good. I don't remember what part it showed up in, though.
Pumpkin Party in Sea Hitler's Water Apocalypse (yes, that's the actual title):
Run for me is the song for a journey or striving for change. Dance of the Curse is about conflict and resolution. A Morning in Norkia is tranquility and satisfaction.

IIRC, it played in the cancellation episode that only aired in Japan.
Maybe not the best song ever, but I doubt anyone can deny just how much Holiday Road represents vacations and road trips so that has to qualify for this thread.

Also, the fact that a disheartening portion of this thread has been given over to anime music indicates that you worthless heathens need to go experience some more culture.

Well, do something about it then.
Black Sabbath - Supernaut. Sabbath has inspired so, so many bands they deserve being mentioned in a thread about epic music and this song is just incredible. Plus bonus cover
Iron Maiden - Fear Of The Dark (Rock In Rio 2001) Quite possibly the greatest live song ever. Something in the range of 100,000 people singing along to a song is just incredible. Although Rammstein's Du Hast is pretty ******* incredible as well.
There's too much epic music in the world for me to even begin linking it all. And it's all subjective anyway. Someone's epic music might not be epic to someone else. That increases the amount of epic music by a lot.
I could link the first 20 tracks by Howard Shore before moving on to John Williams, Trevor Rabin, James Newton Howard, Hans Zimmer and Harry Gregson-Williams. And those are just the composers I remember off the top of my head.
Pretty much anything by Two Steps From Hell is epic, so I'll just leave this here.
Note: In case you're not familiar with Two Steps From Hell, it's not what you think it is. They make trailer music, not heavy metal. Trailer music of epic proportions.

I guess you're right.
American culture?

Foreign culture is awesome. It's just sad that when someone makes a thread about "epic music," it immediately devolves into "music played over an image of a small girl with way too much lace and way too large eyes falling over in a comedic way."
Where are the Berlioz tracks? The Bowie? I just don't see why people see the word "epic" and think first and foremost of anime.

Not all the music from animes linked is anything like that. One of the tracks I linked is played while viewing starships doing their things in space, or an epic return to an earth long ago taken from them. The other is played when the son of Satan fights his half brother(among other times). I don't recall lace in either of them.
What's next, someone gonna link Dovahkiin and you're gonna complain about the music that plays when someone's jumping on the heads of turtles?

Except it didn't, but apparently that doesn't stop you from whining about it.
That song has a bit of a "You Can't Take the Sky From Me" vibe to it. I think I like it.
That's awesome, the world could always use another lil' Hank fan.
Was kind of posting it in jest (but you probably gathered that). When the phrase 'American Culture' popped up, the song came to mind as probably epitomizing the whole rural/conservative American mindset. A bit of tradition mixed with the appropriate amount of , or something.
But if I'm going to contribute in the country theme, my votes for the moment:

I think the broader point Ash was trying to make is that it's disheartening (at the very least) that a thread about epic music here devolves into mostly anime soundtrack discussion. I personally think anime (and by extension, anime freaks) sucks, but online gaming forums tend to take it to a ridiculously absurd level.
There is a whole wide world outside of poorly drawn (yes, that's right) japanese cartoons.
Seems like you're annoyed not because of anything about the song, but rather where it comes from. I linked three songs, all of them from anime. But they're all pretty much instrumental, and without looking them up you wouldn't have known they came from anime. Deadgye linked Rain by Steve Conte, an American artist singing an American song. But because he heard about it through an anime which you know of, it therefore pisses you off.
If you want to complain about something, complain about people basically linking the entire Bebop soundtrack.

I wouldn't know if this was the entire soundtrack or not, but yeah, that's kinda my point. The other songs may be perfectly OK instrumental songs, but then the videos linked are full of anime. Deliver one without the other and I might be more open.
