Man, I don't even really celebrate the holiday except to make my family happy and I'm the one posting this? F.
Maybe I missed the end of this thread, but did you ever taxidermy the little white mouse?
No. This was for my brothers fiance and he found her a good'un on Etsy. It arrived today and she was ecstatic and posted pictures on Facebook earlier. I quite like it.
My mind works it out to about as creepy as any other stuffed, dead creature, which is to say not at all. Then again, all of my uncles and a few of my cousins have deer heads, fish, and various fowl mounted throughout their houses.
I don't find it creepy. We use dead animal bits for all sorts of things. I'll admit to having a taxidemied deer head hiding in a big old black bag somewhere in my basement. I think we ate the meat of that deer though.
I don't think it's really necessary to use real mice for decorations. The felt ones can look nearly identical and I think are much cuter. Of course it's probably not necessary to have leather shoes either, but I just don't like that synthetic crap.
Also, I just re-watched Ratatouille the other night. This taxidermy mouse fad is not going to help relations with rat-kind.
