Severe karma trolling in the main forum.Follow

#1 Aug 18 2004 at 7:33 AM Rating: Good
I haven't posted in this thread, but I couldn't help but notice that almost every single person who posted in the topic (at least on the first page and a number of folks on the third page [including Kaolian!!]) have been rated down, and many are now at below 3.00 karma (and a great many of these people are scholars and sages). I didn't see an argument of any kind at all, so while I can't say for certain it's a karma troll, I don't see what else it could be. Could a mod please check into this? I don't think it's fair that all those people lost karma because someone decided to be a random ***. Thanks. ^_^

So you're saying it's OK if someone was trying to be a specific, intentional ***? :)

You guys on the FFXI forums seem to be having a lot of karma issues recently.

Couple of lamo's in the FFXI Main Forum, and one in particular I will keep my eye on as this may be becoming a habit for him/her/it.

Yep, I tried to indicate the irony by using a smiley. I don't know which emoticon is properly used for irony or sarcasm.

I'm not a huge fan of the rating system, even though I can see why it is used and even the benefits. Indiscriminate rating, whether up or down is a pet peeve of mine. It is the post, not the person that should be rated - and then, not simply because one disagrees with the content of the post.

I think that the rating system would be more effective if the person who has been rated could click that individual post's rating and get a pop-up report on who rated him up/down. Probably way too much coding effort & database usage to justify, though.

I guess the raised eyebrow (o.0) would be the closest thing there is to an ironic Japanese emoticon, but I could be wrong.

Sorry to bother you guys again, but I found another one... This thread has been camped, and even poor Pikko got hit by it. It's in the tradeskill forum, dunno if it might be the same person or not but I hate to think there's more than one person randomly rating lots of people down.
