Signature Pictures?Follow

I know this was a requested feature... oh, way back right after the uBB boards were shelved and the current forum system was put into place, and we were told that there was a reason we weren't getting them (what the precise reason was is escaping me at the moment, since... it was quite some time ago).

With that said, quite a bit has changed since then. Is there any possibility of Premium users getting the ability to put a (smallish) signature image into their posts? Something on the lines of 400 x 100 wouldn't pose undue strain on computers, could be combined with a "Disable Signature Images" option if people don't want to bother loading them on slower machines, and would let the Premium users demonstrate a little more of our inherent creativity. (In case it matters, the 400 x 100 size is derived from the size of the WoWSig's, albeit slightly wider since I like round numbers).

you know us ffxi players are gonna want this too, right?

though i agree that it could be manageable if you set a size limit(like you do with avatars) to something small.

there's not real need for it. the sigs alla provides give all the info, and really, no one gives a **** if you have a cool looking sig.

As a matter of fact, Jinte is doing an excellent job of showing you a sig that might, perhaps, have too much information. Something that you should definately avoid.

The sigs are fine as they are. No need to fix something that isn't broken.

Shockingly, you can do that with avatars too... and people deal with inappropriate Avatars in the same way you would do with inappropriate sig images. This one is more or less a non-issue.

For that matter, I could Wowsig my level 1 Night Elf alt Cnutlicker, which would be actually kind of amusing.



Well, I know that FFXI has about as many features as a pet rock but there's some rather nice third-party 'WoWsig-esque' features. They give more and better information and update automatically because of the WoW Armory (instead of manually), which is kind of... nice.

And it's not like nobody could possibly want a signature that refers to more than an MMORPG either.

Now in shorter, smaller terms you may be able to understand;

WoWSig is the retarded half-brother you keep locked up in the basement who loves Babe Ruth bars. He's ugly, he's a moron and he'll never do what you want him to. He smells like something crawled inside him and died and his mother used to beat him on a daily basis until she finally blew her brains out. We're stuck with him.

And then skipping in the merry fields outside the house is Jimmy. Jimmy is a nice kid; attractive in the kind of way that Chris Hansen would love. You'd love to invite Jimmy into your house and do nasty, nasty things to... with him, but you can't because of that moron in the basement. You're stuck with feeding him Babe Ruth bars every day and have to watch all the other kids in the neighborhood playing with (and traumatizing) good 'ol Jimmy while you miss out on all the fun.

Isn't it time to euthanize him with a bottle of Tequila and a shotgun so we can have some fun with Jimmy?

I don't really give a damn about FFXI vs. WoW in any way. Really, I don't. The point was that while the FFXISig may be the best available (it may be, it may not be - again, don't care) WoWSig is definitely not. "It's good enough for me because there aren't any alternatives" is not a terribly compelling reason to shackle everyone else to something that is at best mediocre.



And nobody cares about avatars either; they're still nice to have, both as a way to quickly identify someone without checking their name and to customize the feel of the posts. Again, not a compelling reason for limiting features.

Anyone with half a brain have an argument for why this wouldn't be acceptable (and easy to implement, for that matter)? Dum-Dum ran out.

Actually, Jinte, RPZip has a good point. You might not care about the sig stuff, but he obviously does. And the only one insulting another MMO was you with your "World of Warcrap" zinger. Good one. Really.

RPZip, the reason I wouldn't want images in sigs is because it would take forever to load a page, and it would clutter the boards up even more. I already got real tired real fast of morons using the FFXI sig generator to either insult WoW, insult FFXI, insult other posters, or just try and be "cute."

In my opinion, it would slow up loading the pages, and make things cluttered. There is the "ignore images" check box, but unfortunately that ignores all images, including avatars, and like you said, that's a good way to see who's posting something quickly. And some of the avatars are just cool.

You meant it as an insult, so it was an insult. Whether or not someone took offense to it is another matter entirely. I was merely pointing out that you took the first shot in that little "battle," then attempted to blame it on the OP.

Not that any of this matters. An admin will come along shortly and delete this post as it has nothing to do with the feedback forum.

Another poster already ruined this for everyone when they brought in images for premium users.
