Now, I'm not sure if this idea has already been suggested, but it's worth a shot. I'm sure that a lot of people on the forum would be happy to have a fanart forum so they could display all kinds of their fanart.
I love lurking alla forums but I get bored with all the drama and frankly don't know any good FFXI fanart sites. It would be a nice change of pace for some people, I guess. "Oh, too much drama, let's look at some FFXI fanarties!"
I'm not sure if it would be difficult or hard on the servers or something (I'm computerly challenged), but it wouldn't seem to hard. An artist would make a post and they'd update the orginal post with new links to their artwork. A sticky would be at the top displaying links to the artist's thread.
Is it a good idea or a bad idea?

I like the idea, but it also worries me. It may require heavy moderation, in that someone will need to keep a constant eye on it, just in case...
Just make it so you have to have over like 300 posts to have picture posting priveleges so random trolls don't come in and post guro or aomething.
I think limiting it to premium would be a decent idea as well.
But, limiting it to premium would mean that only premium users could share their artwork. There are plenty of non-premium users who would love this opportunity.
Personally, I would join the premium league if it gave me that kind of opportunity.
On second hand, maybe it would be a good idea to just limit the image uploader to premium members. Non-premium members could just link their art.

I know that before on the UBB boards, the right to post images was taken away because people would post up gay **** or goatse constantly.
My biggest worry is that I will be in my college library looking at a thread, then have someone come up behind me to talk to me just as a gay coupling image loads up on my screen...not something I really want to explain.
Also, would there be anyway to make a note on the thread title for people on a 56k connection? I know it's shocking, but there are people who still only have that.

I'd be in favor of it in a specific forum only and tied to premium. That way standard threads aren't bogged down by lolcatz and there's a financial incentive not to get yourself banned.
Oh, I'm also in favor of a much stricter ban policy regarding images. None of this "Well, you tested us thirty-three times now and got muted once but next time you're REALLY gonna get warned!" crap.
