Allakhazam Positions AvailableFollow

Also applied.

Oh hell, If Rime thinks he's got a shot, I might as well put my application in too. Smiley: laugh

Are PDFs an acceptable form? My resume was done in InDesign, so the easiest ways to view it are in PDF or some kind of Image form. It doesn't translate well to RTF or more textbased forms.

Yeah why are you bothering to do a ffxi wiki when we already have wiki.ffxiclopedia.org?

We don't have one, so we are making one!icon

I think you missed the point, the community already has one, and it's exceptionally well maintained. To create another one would be a fairly pointless exercise in redundancy IMHO. Unfortunately I don't think you'd attract that many people unless it offers something different than the existing Wiki, or the updates are so prompt and of such high quality that people have no choice but to use it. Just going on the track record of Alla for the past couple of years (no FL assault info. for example) I don't think the latter is going to be a reality, but I'm open to being surprised.

While I agree to a certain extent, we plan to have our wiki have different goals. We already have a database in place and the use of it will not be changing. As for how quickly our site gets updated. Well, being a wiki it will already immediately have a an exceptionally higher amount of people working on it than we do right now, which is 4 and was 1, 2, and then 3 up until last month.

Hmm, I'm very interested in this field. Alla & admins, is there a set closing date on submitting applications?

If you are a heavy forum poster, keep in mind that this gives you admin privileges, which does affect your ability to make some more controversial posts or to post flames. If this is important to you, you might not want to apply

This part is very, very true. Your posting will change. There are definite perks to the admin position, but you have to be sure that this is what you want as your posting persona online will be affected at every level. If you have questions on that aspect before you apply, PM me.

I would be interested in the EverQuest II position.

Readers of the PVP portion of the official forum know me quite well, as well as many who frequent the NGD portion of the site.

I have posted much in the way of the "controversial".

For this reason I, if required to be considered, would be willing to make posts representing Allakhazam under a different forum handle and identity. If it is not an issue and they would prefer, I would gladly also post under my current name, with of course the understanding that I am at that point representing more than my singular self in what I say.

I am interested in what the salary is you are offering, however, it is not my main motivation for offering my service.

My single requirement is that I would not affiliate myself with a website offering or advertising software or services against the EQii eula. I honestly have not looked at enough of your website to know whether or not this is a practice in which it engages, I am simply stating a personal conviction of my own.

I have been around EQii and gaming long enough to quite recognize the name of Allakhazam.com and see an opportunity toward the gaming indusrty for whomever you choose.

Feel free to contact me via my account email here or with a PM on the official EQii game forum, at your convenience and if it is your pleasure to do so.

Long Live the Leaf!!!

Greenion Leafluster.

ps : nice background color.

I'm quite articulate, and I would consider creative writing to be, at least, a strength of mine.

Of course, I play WoW right now...I'm a recovering FFXI nut ._.

I'm not sure if Allakhazam has, or will, come back to this thread to sift through replies, but I thought I'd try here before sending a PM, then ultimately an email.

I was putting together my portfolio, and when doing so, I realized I may have a problem. When reviewing applications, do things such as past admin experience require some sort of verification? A few years ago, I did some moderation work for a UK based anime social forum, and was wondering if I should bother getting some type of verification from the forum owner. I ask because it is going to be especially difficult to do due to the fact that we're in totally different countries and I'd have to snoop around to find out if he even frequents the forums anymore.

Thanks.

Edit: In regards to this...

For those who didn't already know, there's been some drama involving donations made to FFXIclopedia. I'm not privy to all the facts myself, but there's a gigantic thread on BlueGartr that you can find here. I think this has upset a lot of people to the point that they'd be more inclined to use a Wiki if supplied by a different site. I know that if I had personally donated, I would be pretty angry too.

Er I don't think it's too important. If you can use him as a reference it wouldn't hurt though.

I'm not sure of something.

Is there only one spot available for each position, or will the scope of the project require multiple people?

My understanding is that, at this time, the openings are as outlined in Allakhazam's original post.

I have so many ffxi applications, that we will probably pick someone there soon. Same for the general wiki editor. So if you are interested in those positions, apply now. The other positions will probably remain open for the rest of the week.

I didn't see this until just now after I sent my application.
I hope I at least got it in early enough.

Glad to hear that you're making your own ffxi wiki after all the recent hub-bub.

I would apply as I teach English at the college level part time, but I've got too much on my plate at the moment. Good luck all!

Hmmm.... I might apply, i will have to give it a few days. Though if i did, would there be anything against me continuing my eq2/mmo blog?

I see NixNot with a nice orange name now (congrats Nix), and I know Pikko announced on the FFXI main forum for the Wiki person there.

Can we get an update in this post, as to what positions have been filled, who has filled them, and what is still available?

The General and the FFXI wiki positions are filled at this time, possibly some others. I also know that some of the others are nearing decision.

We have hired two general wiki editors and a ffxi one. We're launching the FFXi wiki soon (hopefully today). Once we have a handle on that, we will hire people for the other wiki positions over the next week or two. So there is still time to submit an application and if you have submitted one have patience. You have not been ruled out yet.

I have not applied, and will not be, but a good friend of mine has, and I'm hoping he is able to get on board. :)
