Get rid of the Report Image Button. I was dumb enough to post an image on the FFXI Main Board/BST Job Forum and sure enough its gone after 3 minutes.

Until this site is frequented by less retarted individuals, there should be no way to just make peoples pictures go poof in an instant.

Wishful thinking, my dear. Seriously, though, any update on the work you guys have been doing on this? I think Illia mentioned that he was going through options a couple weeks ago? :)

I just wish that hitting "Report image" would flag the username near it or something, so if we find a trend with a poster, we can PM them and verbally spank them.

I was hoping that it would send a flag up to an Admin and not delete the picture. With all the folks working on the board I'd imagine they could get to it quickly and decide if the picture is offensive or not.

I assumed that's all it did, since I've seen people mentioned that their image was reported, but the image was still there to be seen.

I'm surprised it deletes it, because you're right. There's always an *** in the bunch that reports any image they come across.

that's exactly what it does, but while that report is being investigated, the image isn't shown.

That makes sense, just incase it is an offensive picture.

When a picture is being reviewed and disappears, make a line appear to say "(person) has reported this picture". That way, people will report far less. Also, you will know when there's a reply that had a picture that you cannot understand on its own. It's bothering trying to figure out why someone said something when it's related to a picture someone reported.

I like this idea tbh.

The e-thugs who thrive on the anonymity would probably do it less.

No, they'd just start rate camping people for reporting pictures.

The best (in my opinion) way to handle it is to change reported images to a link so that people who really, really have to see the image can do so, but people aren't blatantly exposed to Goatse in the forums for very long (read: just long enough for that image to get reported).

Besides, if you're in the habit of blindly clicking on links just because you can, you are in for a rude, rude awakening on this mass of tubes we call an Internet.

Exactly, adding a "Reported by:" would only result in trading one abuse for another.

I agree, do something about that report image button. At the very least put it in link form or put some sort of condition that must be fulfilled for it to be reported instead of just removing it.

Nah, I don't think so.
If you report an offensive image, nobody would rate you down for this (at least not many since very few would feel offended by not seing an offensive pic any longer).
If however someone reports images for the fun of it (strange what people can find amusing) then yes, it may result in a bit Karma camping. However I see nothing wrong with that.

That's just it. Every image I've seen posted so far, has been reported. Now, we can be a pretty offensive group at times, but we generally don't cross the line completely (at least not on the main boards). People are just "report" happy, and blocking every image they find for no good reason.
