Um.. Suggestion for Allakhazam to eliminate noob questions (Follow

I have asked noob questions before. We all know people who get in the forums and get mad at hearing noob questions.. i.e. "What server should I play on"...

So how come the search option is only for premium members. If Allakhazam made the forum search free, then noobs could get their answers without asking..

C'mon alla... who pays for a search?

Well I dont know what restrictions they have on the search, like why its premium only, but if Alla could compound all the search options (forums, items, missions, monsters, etc) into that fancy new search box they added, they'd:

1) Reduce the amount of menu items on the left
2) Probably create more use for the search function. (Not saying its not used often)

Since the search function separates each subject through tabs, it would be cool. Not implying its easy, but again, it would be cool.

Problem being, the big questions being asked are still in stickies, which you really SHOULDN'T need to be searching for. If they can't find the stickies, how the hell are they ever gonna find something with search.

Even if this were made possible, I don't see it helping much, as laziness often gets the better of many posters, and rather than bother with looking, they'll just make a new one anyway.

Heck, most don't even notice the stickies at the top for things like "What server should I play on?". Honestly, how many server posts do you see a day? I stopped counting.

But you have to ask, is Necro-posting worse then having posters just repost a topic that has been discussed, potentially heavily discussed a few pages back? You may be thinking it is better just to give an eye on what threads are created and stuff, but majority of people wont visit more then 2 or 3 page links to past threads, even more so if people are just viewing threads quickly for topics that pertain to their current issue on only the first page.

The first problem though is making the search function something that people will go to. Right now, many posters are not use to it, and more then likely won't use it in the future. But making the search function visit all parts of FFXI Alla, more people may (or may not) utilize it to find what they need, rather then clicking over and over.

You can't necessarily generalize the population on the whole search thing. You can never grasp an idea that everyone will like, but if you make it useful to people who care, other random people may flock to it.

On a side note, I agree many people pass up stickies. In my opinion, its not completely their fault, because the hazard symbol used for sticky threads just is not very eye catching. Possibly a separate frame, or different colors would give people more of a chance to actually see it then pass it.

I saw that seach box, but I thought that was more for items etc than threads? I couldn't find a thread with a topic on it when I tried but I've only tried it a couple of times.
