I was recently asked to remove my avatar, as an administrator on the site found it offensive.

Personally, I didn't agree with its offensiveness, but to me it is enough that one person finds an avatar of mine distasteful, an administrator or not - I will remove such an avatar post haste upon being asked.

I did not however agree with being cussed at and threatened. That is what I find offensive. Using expletives when communicating with paying customers is never warranted.

Once again, I don't disagree with the request, only the manner in which it was presented.

I've known all of the admins here for a long time now and I can't imagine anyone of them cussing or using bad language to any user here.

Could you clarify, please?

I doubt you were cussed at. Some sort of linkage proof would be nice.

There was nothing "pedo" about my avatar. It was a flasher bear which I came across in the humor section of an avatar site. I don't find it anymore "pedo" than Conan's ************ Bear. However, in retrospect, I can see how it would require a weird sense of humour to find amusing, and having said that, I wouldn't use it again. Certainly wouldn't use something I, or anyone else for that matter, considered "pedo" in any way. Like I said earlier, I don't disagree with the request. Only the way it was put.

I've been a member on the forums for 2 years without any previous conflict with the staff. I am used to seeing all kinds of trash talk in forum posts, and frequently lose my temper in them myself. But person-to-person communication is different by definition.

Hi Jella,

your avatar comes across as being rather offensive to me and I would like you to remove it as soon as you see this message. I appreciate your cooperation.
That would get the job done just as well, with no loss of respect towards the author. There's no need to cuss or throw one's weight around.Smiley: smile

It was a bear with anitomically correct male genetalia modeled after the highly offensive 4chan @#%^bear icon. You are lucky I did not ban you outright over it.

That aside, the fact that it had a ***** and ********* showing never once crossed your mind as possibly being maybe just a whole lot over the line?

Cartoon genitalia that you could barely make out from a 100px avatar? In any "family" oriented forum, it might have. @ Allakhazam, not particularly. I saw worse in The Simpsons Movie.

But like I said, since it offended at least someone, it was too much and I gladly removed it. As I am sure you've noticed, I didn't start this thread to argue the legitimacy of your request; only to suggest that you not cuss and threaten your customers offhand.

To repeat: I apologize for the avatar that was deemed inappropriate and will take more care in selecting my avatars in the future.

I was the one that asked Kao to request avatar change.

There are several borderline avatars in use on this site that I don't have issues with, but as I told Kao, I reported this because it had the "goods" showing. I personally didn't find your avatar "offensive", but it was against the rules. Next time blur it out before using it.

That's all I've got to say on the subject.

BTW, Kao, that wasn't based on Pedobear. It's from here: Not exactly work safe.

Dude, while you are right about it not really being kid friendly, those statue things have been around since I was about seven. At least, that's the earliest I remember seeing them about town. I don't think 4chan was around that far back?

Those statues are cool as hell. Definitely off the wayside, though. They're common in the UK? Smiley: eek Weirdness. Expensive weirdness.
