Query Regarding Image UploadsFollow

Are uploaded images somehow put onto an admin list to check out or are admins unaware of them until someone complains (or else an admin stumbles across them themselves)?

I uploaded an image last night which contained a "bad word". The word (assh---) is filtered but the root word isn't so I figured it was borderline and I wouldn't complain if it was smacked. Which it was. And I won't complain about that but I did find it surprising that it was reported between last night and this afternoon despite my never using it.

I know that Hellboy famously got banned for uploading a pornographic image because image storage space is publically viewable. But was it reported by a user or noted by an admin?

It's no big deal. Knowing that images with that word are verboten, I won't do it a second time. I was just curious about the speed of the smack Smiley: smile

When uploaded, images go to a queue which looks a little like this: Screenshot

How often it's checked varies by the time of day or week.

That's nice to know. So basicly you guys can check every picture before it might even be used. Nice system. Smiley: thumbsup

Did you tell WeakElvaanBLM to get bent for reporting that image? Smiley: laugh

Interesting to know. Thanks for the answer!

When an image is reported, does it immediately leave the user's catalog or is it just "supressed"?

Some dingbat reported img=21983, a completely harmless looking picture. Whatever, I assume it'll be restored in due time. But I notice it's gone from my image selection screen as well and I find it hard to believe that an admin axed it.

It immediately gets flagged so that unless you're an admin, you cannot see it. Looks like your image was restored.

I deleted it the first and second times, PMing Jophiel after the second (which was after Illia's post, which I didn't see) that it was deleted because it could be construed as anti-Semitic. I still don't feel it's appropriate, but I've been overruled, so it stands.

N.B.: boobs are okay in my book. YMMV.

Here's what I want to know.

Is there any way to tell the difference between having an image an admin marked "delete" and one that was reported but still "left for later?"

If you are going to do some coding on the matter anyways, why not add a comment box with the delete checkbox that PMs users letting them know a certain imaged was deleted and why, via pm?

That would be nifty, although I'm not sure how practical from a coding/admin work standpoint.

Since any yutz can hit "Report" and kill an image no matter how benign, it'd be nice to get some sort of confirmation that your image was, indeed, admin-killed and not just lost in the void of reported-not-yet-checked images. Had I not gotten that second e-mail from Fleven, I never would have guessed that my image was killed for containing the word "Zionist".

Report would still work like report. It goes away until it is greenlighted by an admin. The notification would only apply when an image is redlighted, whether it had been reported or not.

I understand that. My point is that, currently, there's no way of knowing if my image is gone because an admin actually killed it or if it is simply languishing in "Reported" purgatory because someone hit the button.
