Would it be possible to make this more prominent? I often miss the 20x20 icon at the upper right of my screen.
Its located at 2 separate places. Above the threads on the forums and in the right hand corner. How are you missing it?

Seems it should be simple enough for Alla to popup a message box when you have one. Maybe it could be an option through the user account settings?
I wanted us to have a system that would catapult a large freshly baked pie to you every time you get a new PM, but they told me it wasn't feesable because no one wanted to bake the pies.

How do you miss the notification? I'm not the most observant person (was 'meh' at best at those stupid memory image games) and I rarely miss them.

I usually miss when I have messages as well. Maybe if the text turned red or something when you have a message. (I don't have very good vision >.<)
I don't get messages so I have nothing to worry about.
You should all lurk some more. Once you've been staring at the same page over and over again you start to notice the smallest differences, like "You have no unread messages" suddenly turning into "You have x new messages" (or whatever it says) in bold font.

The text is very small when compared to everything else. I find myself not noticing for a couple days.

Same here. I got my first pm a few weeks ago (no one likes me...*sniff* :P), and by the time I noticed it, a week or two had passed. >.<
Once you lurk long enough, you can start to figure it out. Like Memorize the order the threads go in so you know when it's new. The Message button is the easiest.
