Hmmm, I'm sure it will be gone in a moment, but limiting accounts to make only 1 new thread a minute would help to stop future events. I don't think it would hurt real accounts because any topics actually worth discussing take at least a minute to type.

Edit: On second thought, if this was in place for all posting it could also help eliminate double-posts.

Yeah this is a good idea. Or even a 3-5 minute time.
3-5 is worth it really. How many topics do you have to make quickly if it's not to spam?
The forum I was a Moderator at had this in place and never really had issues.
They also had a post reply set to 1 minute after the first.
Cut down on the quick spamming.

I'm pretty sure the multi-post thing has a spam filter of 30 seconds? But yeah, 1-5 minute wait between threads, especially after last night, would be great.

/sign as well.

Spammers suck, no point in allowing them to run amok.

The problem with the spam filter is that there are ways to bypass it, that a few of those who have spammed us have discovered. I think it stems from the clustered environment, but i'm not 100% sure. The post time spam filter is also tied to edits, since an edit is just a special post action. so if you increase the time, you could end up with problems with edits since it is fairly common with people who actually know how to spell words to hit edit immidiatly after posting to fix something.

Well, on some forums, you have to preview your own message before the Post message button appears.

Maybe we should do that here? Hit preview, then post from there? That would make people be more likely to do a once over, and then eliminate the need for 30 second later edits.

I am always in a hurry to get my post seen, so I usually post it as fast as possible. Then I sit there staring at it for like 5 minutes until I end up finding things I don't enjoy about it.
