I really like to give out ideas on forums. But no matter what i say every post i make i get rated down. I just think it would be a good idea to turn off ratting down in the suggestion forum so people can post there ideas and suggestions without fear of getting rated down to nothing.

Is this about the thread where you think Sephiroth and Cloud should be playable characters in FFXI?

Or the one where you think you should be able to lvl to 75 killing lvl 1 mobs for 1 exp apiece?

By skimming a few of the threads you posted in, and your past hundred or so posts, the only conclusion I have come to is...

Karma system working as intended.

Yeah isn't that something? we rate down stupid. Go figure.

Its not "no matter what you say". If its stupid we want it to disappear. You think you're so special we just must pick on you and only you. Look around at the posts in forum 29 rated excellent. THOSE were "good" idea's. Yeah system gets abused form time to time..This isn't one of those times. Whining about it editing out your posts telling everyone off because waaa you got rated down and then whining more here are all sure fire ways to get more negative attention.

You do realize that one of those two was an admin and by him posting what he did he basically just proved you wrong?

Edit:

My take on the whole rating in the feedback forums.

When admins here or from Squeenix(In the case of that one FFXI feedback forum) go to look at ideas presented, it helps if the good ideas aren't drowned out by hundreds of moronic ones. The karma system helps prevent that from happening by making people who would otherwise post ideas so retarded that they make someone's eyes bleed think about it for a moment and ask themselves if there is truly merit in their idea. While it doesn't prevent every moronic idea from being posted, it does reduce their number.

So, Karma system working as intended, IMO.

I wasn't here when the Karma system was first implemented but I've been here awhile, back in the days where the forum moderating admins could be counted on one hand.

IIRC the Karma system was designed as a system for the users to self moderate the forums so the admins could work on more important things. About the only times the admins stepped in was when something needed to be nuked or someone deserving of a ban needed to be dealt with.

As with any system, it does get abused. However, most people who get rated to a sub-default level, usually deserve it.

That's technically what it's for, and that's the basic theoretic function on most of the boards here. I was talking specifically about the Feedback Forums and the function it now provides, IMO.
