one of the ads leads to this site:
http://www.briankopp.com/?hop=xanno
it's a wow power leveling service/guide. considwering this site is supposedly anti-hack, this is close enough to be a bad idea it seems.

EDIT: it's the ad on the right of this page:
http://swg.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=16
keep refreshing it, you'll eventually see it (shows once about every 9 refreshes for me)

EDIT2: what's wrong with the link?
http://swg.allakhazam.com/
click "Main SWG Forum" on the left

I'll let our folks who work with this stuff know about this one. Thanks for the heads up.

The ad is for Brian Kopp's WoW guide, which is a legitimate service that shows you ways you can level quickly using normal quests etc.--nothing in there breaks the terms of use, as far as I know--though admittedly the popups are pretty obnoxious. Is this something you guys are concerned about? There's no service or anything, it's just a guide--so I approved it to go up on the site. Should I not have? I thought it was ok. =/

hmm..
while i don't know blizzard's terms, i work part-time for IGG Games, as a gm for ZU Online. if a $35 guide to get to a high level were to be released on the internet, IGG would shut it down immediatly. the main problem is that the guy is charging for how to play a game to get to a high level, with details, and blizzard is getting NO profit from it. it's a form of extortion, he's heavily saying how good something is to get $35 from a product he had/has no role in making.

again, i don't know Blizzard's stand on this, but at IGG, it'd be shut down imediatly because the guy is makign money from a product he didn't make/help make in any way.

There's nothing "extortion" about it.

If someone WANTS to pay $35 for a GUIDE. Go for it. You're a moron....but go for it.

IGG can send out cease and desist letters all they want, there's no way they could take it any further, or have any sort of claim to it. Blizzard isn't getting any profit from our WoW site either, we're not about to shut that down!

=)

you may be right there technically is no claim, but still blizzard should send a cease and desist letter. igg has sent out many, and everyone of them the reciever freaked out and closed it immediatly. i just think it's terrible how people charge money for somethign they had NO part in making/help making.

p.s. - wow, 3 admins noticed my thread :)

No, but they do charge for premium, in which some people could say, "I only come here for WoW, yet they charge me for the extra stuff, I'm telling!" They really have no claim on the matter.

as you pointed out, EXTRA stuff. this guy is charging for the lowest form of what he's got.

but seriously, EVERYTHING you cna find in premium you can find on regualr, you just need to look harder

Look, if Blizzard didnt like it, they would close him down, if you dont like it, tell it to Blizzard and see their answer, if they dont mind him hanging around, then he will stay, if they do mind, the lawyer squad will squish him.

Its like a Kaosmash but with bigger words

Actually, he's charging money for a guide, which he did help make. BradyGames does it all the time(though I think they actually license it). I've also seen print copies of "Unofficial" strategy guides which I'm sure are unlicensed.

However, if you don't like the ads there is a way around em. Just get premium here.
You'll never have to see an ad here again.Smiley: nod

You cant get graphic smilies or images, and you cant get avatars either, wich are the three reasons I want premium. ;3

Sure you can link pictures, I do it often... but posting the whole picture gives for bigger effects.
