ok, ill first say im sorry for asking this, probably been done many times but their are so many forums to check for this answer. i understand the rate up and rate down thing. but what i dont understand is the title under my name, and how it changes. is that based on how my posts are rated, or how many posts i have done? thanks for any answers on this, and again im sorry for asking this, just woundering.

The title is gained from your karma rating. You're a scholar which means you're over 3.01 karma rating. Sage karma is set at 3.75 and up(I think, not positive.) And Guru is a karma ranking of over 4.something. It has no point though. Alla is a popularity contest. Karma counts for ****. Doesn't somehow make you a more credible poster if your name is red or yellow.

"MY NAME IS A DIFFERENT COLOR LISTEN TO ME!!"

Thats how rediculous(sp?) karma rating is.

It does look pretty tho.

yeah i see what you mean about te popularity contest. say you do something in game against the popular view of posters and you get sub-default rated posts. best part is the sub-default posts all i said was "you dont have to play that way, and you can still be a good player if you dont"

Uh, your posts where rightly sub-defaulted. You were saying it's okay to gimp yourself, because its your 13 bucks a month. People need to realize your 13$ VS everyone you come into contact with, be it in EXP, LS, events... it's their money too. And they certainly don't want to take up the slack from someone who isn't geared well.

It is his right to gimp himself as much as he wants, since he's paying for it. It's also you're right to use your $13 and not play with him. Where's Trembling?

actually the point i was trying to make was that their is more than 1 to play and more than 1 way to gear. but the point was mut in that forum. people that play endgame will not accept that someone can be sucessful that does not do things like them. sure, the dmg might not be as good, but it doesnt make them a gimp because they dont spend 8 hours a day playing. but im done with any topics that are purely opinion based, or anything to deal with "what gear is good".

Whether or not it's his right, it doesn't mean the ratedowns aren't justified.

Did you read his lines? No swapping staves = lol.

see you only look at what is said, just like they did. their is one trying to understand the persons reasoning of why you play like they do. its a simple fact that if you dont do things like the main stream of players does your wrong. doesnt matter at all why you do what you do.

When I first started playing FFXI, gear was important as you were always fighting IT+ mobs. As merit parties started going after uber chains and realized many many VTs were much better than a few IT+ mobs, it trickled down to the grinding. In order to pwnt a VT, you need only have mediocre gear and switching between staffs is overkill. Really, as long as gear's current to the level, I never cared what others wore.

But in all honesty, I only replied to troll Darkdoom. He's my little buddy.

Go play Bst. CurrierCarrie doesn't care what you do or how you do it. Avoid Keeneared Steffi though, she's a *****.

Its really simple

You have the right to play how you want.

Others have the right to not play with who ever they want.

You can make any statement (within site rules) on the forums

Others have a right to respond to what you say in any manner they want and can.

true, why not base that on how they play. not how they equip themselves?

ill be the first to admit, im not the best player, or the best geared player. but my things, or my ablity to play are not the worst either. but even though i dont have sky, sea or any other hnm gear i still manage to made do and get things done.

Because someone who can't be bothered to buy a set of items that give a freaking 10% performance increase (well and above the performance margins for <insert sky/sea/hnm gear here>), costing 10-50k (depending on server) apiece, cannot be trusted to have the brains to actually play effectively.

Your gear shows your willingness to apply effort to the betterment of your character and those whom you play with. Playing to the bare minimum when there are reasonable upgrades that don't require you to slave over the game is a slap in the face to everyone else you play with.

Sasquatch: VTs don't excuse you from needing to gear effectively; I like to consider myself pretty damn well geared and I got absolutely destroyed at Greater Colibri last night (my first time out there, wasn't sure what to expect besides not being able to eat food). You don't need +1s out the wazoo but there are staples that should be @#%^ing mandatory that cost less than a week's supply of food does, and there are too many people who don't have them that toss out the kind of ******** excuses that have been coming out of that other thread.

I don't want to carry an equipment discussion into the feedback forum, which is why I put that small bit in [sm]. I should have just left it out altogether. That being said, I did also say "as long as gear's current to the level".
