Just a suggestion, please don't bite...!
I see a lot of people criticising new players for asking the same old question, or not reading the FAQ etc, or shipping them off to other sites. Most of the time these suggestions are innocent enough, but sometimes I think they're a little harsh. Yes I totally agree that people should read the stickies and/or FAQs, but I think that a "beginner" section, maybe even for each game, would allow newcomers, who may or may not be versed in the use of forums, to ask innocent questions.
This would serve a number of purposes. Regular users could steer clear of the particular forum, and hopefully avoid newbie questions, and people who like to help can do so, me being one of them.

Granted, the questions asked will be of various topics, and there are already categories for them, but I'm sure they'd venture into the other sections once they know their way.

Once a person posts a question which is in the FAQ etc, they can be politely linked to it, and hopefully wouldn't need to ask one of these questions again.

I just feel that newcomers should be made welcome, and not be afraid to ask.

What makes you think that people would go there to begin with?

New people still post multi-game Q's in a single game forum, class Q's in main, OoT in main, tradeskill in main, etc.

You would have to either make a sticky telling people to go there (which doesnt work) or have the wow forums default to the beginner section....

Answering the same questions over and over again and having your regular users get tired of it is just a normal part of "teh intarwebs"

I just thought that if people saw a beginner section then they would be more tempted to go there first of all

I used to think the same thing about a sticky labeled "FAQ, Read before asking please". Reading takes more effort than typing in a question ,clearly.

edit: made stick, sticky
